About Genting Highlands

The glorious Genting Highlands area is famous for two things – gambling and its chilly climate. It is unlike any ‘city’ in the world, as it boasts link-ways instead of streets, and little else aside from large hotels and entertainment facilities. Regarded as the Las Vegas of Malaysia, Genting Highlands is the only destination in the country where gambling is legal. In addition, the highland climate remains relatively cool throughout the year, adding an extra incentive for visitors to flock here.

Don’t Miss

Most visitors come to Genting Highlands to try their luck in the casinos. However, there are many other attractions in this enticing getaway retreat.

Theme parks are a major part of the landscape at Genting Highlands. These parks are great for individuals, couples or family travellers. Plenty of thrilling rides are found at the Genting Outdoor Theme Park. If tourists prefer to remain indoors for some thrills and spills, then checking out the First World Indoor Theme Park is an absolute must.

The casinos themselves are fantastic spots that are full of life and dazzling entertainment. Tourists who are 21 years old and over can enjoy local and international gaming stations round the clock in these casinos. The Monte Carlo Casino is by far the largest casino building here.

Just outside the gambling and entertainment centre of Genting Highlands rest various farms that are fascinating to visit, and are ideal places to pick up cheap produce. The Genting Strawberry and Strawberry Leisure Farms are the best places to find the freshest strawberries at cheap prices. There is also a mushroom farm and a vegetable farm that offer tours and produce picking throughout the day.

Restaurants and Bars

Tourists need to remember that prices of food and meals in the Genting Highlands are much more expensive than the rest of Malaysia. Guests staying in the major hotels like First World and the Genting are able to dine in-house for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Restaurants in these hotels are first class. Visitors will find Western fast food outlets, including McDonalds and Burger King. First World Plaza is where tourists will encounter most of the destination’s international restaurants. There are limited nightlife opportunities in Genting Highlands. Most are found within the Genting Hotel.

Shopping in the Genting Highlands is focused around First World Plaza. This department store is known as the highest shopping experience in Malaysia, and boasts an incredible 90 brand-name stores, plenty of food and beverage outlets and dozens of entertainment facilities for visitors.
