Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) is still frequently known by its former name of Subang International Airport or simply Subang Airport. Another commonly used name for this airport located about 30 minutes west of central Kuala Lumpur is Subang Skypark. Even though Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) is no longer Kuala Lumpur's primary airport, it still welcomed well over two and a half million passengers in 2014.Don’t Miss
Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) remains popular among Kuala Lumpur tourists and locals alike because its size is smaller and it is closer to the city centre than the larger Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Today, this airport is primarily used as a hub for commercial turboprop services such as Malindo Air, Firefly, and Berjaya Air. Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) once boasted Southeast Asia's longest runway.
In 2009, the airport's Terminal 3 received its current Subang Skypark name following an extensive renovation. This is the only Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) terminal which currently handles passenger flights. Firefly and Malindo Air both offer direct flights to and from Alor Setar, Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuala Terengganu, and Langkawi. Singapore and Koh Samui are also on Firefly's list of direct flights from this airport.
The facilities at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) are fairly basic, but modern. Wi-Fi, banks, ATMs, luggage storage facilities, and even spas can all be found at the Subang Skypark terminal.Restaurants and Bars
There may not be quite as many places to eat at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) as there are at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, but food prices are generally cheaper than at the larger airport. Fast food and coffee chains stand alongside several Malaysian restaurants and a sports bar at Subang Skypark.Shopping
Like its restaurants, goods sold at shops in Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) are typically cheaper than in Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Subang Skypark's growing list of places to shop includes cosmetics, luggage, jewellery, fashion, and book shops. There are also a couple of duty-free shops which sell alcohol, perfumes, and cosmetics.
