Lose yourself in the maze of boutiques and bars or pull up a chair and watch the numerous street performers work their magic in this entertaining district.

This cosmopolitan district started life as the commercial centrepiece of the west end. Once a bustling fruit market way back in the 17th Century, Covent Garden is now a thriving area of London, full of life and soul. The energy of this place is palpable. From escapologists to mime artists, visitors will enjoy the entertainment on offer in “The Garden”.

Covent Garden had plenty going on for the food enthusiasts and anyone wanting to soak up the authentic café culture. From Belgian chocolates to French pastries to Spanish paella, this bubbly district oozes flavour and panache. Sample the succulent sticky Thai rice or the delicious North African curries for a more adventurous taste. The main square is lined with historic bars and pubs, offering visitors a wide variety of European speciality ales and drinks.

Aside from the bars and chic restaurants, Covent Garden has its own unique character. The Seven Dials area has quirky cafés and a relaxed atmosphere. For a more upbeat experience, Long Acre offers a whole host of shops ranging from the local boutiques to well-known favourites.

If you are looking for refreshment, head to Monmouth Street, with its quaint cafés serving up traditional English teas and delicious sweet pastries. Just around the corner you’ll come across Neal’s Yard, with its independent clothing outfitters and trendy shops.

Located near the West End, Covent Garden is easily accessible by subway, with its own Underground station of the same name.
