The hotel is placed in between the old and french quarters making it easy to get to both areas. There was no commercial buildings in front the hotel so the area is quieter than most hotels. But most importantly the staff were great. They noted my birthday and provided a cake during my stay! They also provided a small souvenir coffee upon departure.

I love the hospitality from EHG. It was an excellent 1 night stay. We were welcomed by the Manager On Duty Mr Nguyen Long, served alongside with the refreshing cold towel and welcome drinks. The surprise was when Mr Nguyen Long told us that our room was being upgraded! It was totally an amazing experience on our 1st visit to Vietnam. The staffs made us feel like home. We wish we could change our plan and stay longer with EHG. :-P

Great location and excellent hospitality. The team was very accommodating, even allowing us to freshen up and shower before heading to the train station in the evening after we had checked out. They also kindly prepared packed food for us to take on the train. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay at GRAND HÔTEL du LAC Hanoi. From the moment we checked in until the day we checked out, the entire hotel team was incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming.
What really stood out to us was the hospitality shown by everyone we encountered — from the bellboys and reception team to housekeeping, as well as the staff at the restaurant and bar. Everyone made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay.

In the greater Hanoi area, you’ll find a wealth of experiences perfect for the discerning traveller. Begin your adventure at the stunning Hoàn Kiếm Lake, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll or enjoy tai chi at dawn, surrounded by lush gardens and the historic Turtle Tower. Next, immerse yourself in the centuries-old charm of the Old Quarter, where narrow streets are lined with traditional shops and bustling street food stalls, offering everything from pho to egg coffee. For a taste of Vietnam's rich history, visit the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that reveals the ancient foundations of the city. If you're seeking a more tranquil experience, a day trip to the picturesque Ninh Binh region is a must, where you can take a scenic boat ride through limestone karsts and rice paddies. Finally, don’t miss the chance to enjoy a cultural performance at the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre, where traditional Vietnamese storytelling comes to life on water. For a comfortable stay, consider the vibrant Hoan Kiem district, which offers luxury hotels like the Sofitel Legend Metropole, blending French historic charm with modern amenities.
