"We were very impressed by the service of the hotel manager and staff. They were so helpful in carrying our large luggages when we were switched to another homestay on the first night and switching back to Gecko Hotel for another 2 more nights. We were upgraded to a big room as an apology to the inconvenience caused. The hotel is entered through a claw crane shop. There is a small elevator to use. There is no tv in the room. The lighting is a bit dim in the room. The kettle could be cleaner....

"If you want a luxurious place to stay in Hanoi, The Sofitel Metropole Hotel should be at the top of your list. Built in 1901, it retains echoes of the French colonial era. The service was excellent throughout; from the reception to the breakfast area, and our favourite, the pool bar! Our room was very clean, comfortable and spacious, with a smart TV that allowed us to connect to various services such as Netflix and You Tube. One minor point to note for visitors from the UK - the power point accept UK plugs without an adaptor, which is very handy indeed! This was our second visit to Hanoi. We stayed here for 7 days this trip and we were very sad to leave! Thank you to the all the staff at the Metropole; thank you Hanoi and thank you Vietnam. We will definitely be returning."
