"On arrival, the receptionist immediately required photo ID, took a copy of it, and needed a £100 deposit against any damage I might cause. This approach is not welcoming and friendly, but rather officious and distrustful. As a UK citizen using public transport, I did not have passport or driving licence with me. If I had not had a bus pass, I got the impression that I would have been given a room. Given that I had paid £180 for a one night stay, the deposit against damages seemed unnecessary....
