"It was totally magical staying at the castle. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. It was marvelous exploring the castle and grounds. The road to get there is narrow and bumpy, but once you’re there it is worth it! We had a lovely breakfast in the little restaurant. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Wish we could have stayed longer. "

"A lovely hotel set in beautiful surroundings, offering cosy, comfortable rooms that make for a relaxing stay. There are several pubs nearby, and it’s easy to reach York city centre by bus, or by a scenic 40-minute walk. A great balance of peace and convenience — I’ll definitely be returning."

"Beautiful hotel, very good customer service. Only downside was the breakfast. We were charged £17 per person for a pretty lacklustre offering. My husband requested pancakes which were on the menu for an additional £2.50, so we were expecting a spectacular stack as a result; what he got was a couple of shop bought small pancakes to go with a very dry sausage and one rasher of bacon. Given that everything else was top-notch in the hotel, we feel they should perhaps review their breakfast and...
