Being British and living in an old home here in the UK I understand how hot upper level rooms can get in the extreme heat and was expecting the temperature to be excessive. The actual temperature was beyond extreme and the fan provided did not oscillate and was extremely noisy. "I absolutely detested the evening meal service available because it was premised on a "minimal waiter/waitress service model. The idea was that you order and pay for your meal at the bar and it is brought to your numbered table when ready by the same staff member. "When you hear the expression you get what you pay for this was this hotel! Nothing drastically wrong with it but it’s dated. Bathroom was very dated. Bed was uncomfortable, pillows lovely though. Parking excellent. Room was very hot but it was during a heat wave ! If you’re looking for a cheap stay it’s perfect, if you’re looking for a luxury stay go somewhere else!"

"Check in was great, nice & easy and the room was ready straight away. The room was a twin, a great size but very tired. The carpet could do with changing and the shower sealant definitely needs re-doing as it was black in areas. Breakfast was plentiful, could have been warmer but nothing too drastic. "I was able to check in online before I arrived at The Kicking Dickey. The staff were very helpful and friendly along with the pub which I thought was very welcoming. My room was at the rear of the property so away from any noise. The room itself was comfortable and well maintained, I think it might of been a converted stable. Nice functional bathroom with a shower and a very comfortable single bed. Lots of free parking outside the property. All in all well worth a stay."
