The reason for my stay was to help care for a dying relative. I was exhausted mentally emotionally and physically. When I checked in it was early but the clerk let me in my room so I could get to my task. When I came back drained I received a genuinely friendly greeting I retired to my room and was very comfortable. Housekeeping and maintanence workers spoke to me. Everything in my room was functioning and clean. I will come back to this hotel and recommend it to anyone looking for comfort and convenience in midtown Manhattan
Easy walking to Times Square and Broadway shows without being in the middle of it. Probably better views on higher floors and west side. My room was comfortable and quiet even though it was right off elevator.
Hotel staff was amenable. Rooms were cleaned daily with no issues from housekeeping. Old fixtures in bathrooms, outdated feel, however shower temperature was great. Considering we were there during New Years and how busy it was, we had no issues and we wouldn't mind staying there again.
Stayed here with a friend from Jan 7-12. It is located in 48th between 10th and 11th ave. C and E train's a couple of blocks away (50th and 8th).
The hotel has three floors but it is a walk up. No elevators. Keep this in mind if youre coming with 2 big luggages (like what happened to me). But the staff was really helpful and nice. Helped us bring it up.
The room has a lot of amenities that some hotels dont have like iron, iron bed, microwave, plates, utensils, induction stove, etc.
Maid service will consist of new towels, clean sheets, etc but no washing of dishes.
When you check in, you will be given the door code as well as wifi password. Wifi's really fast.

As I was planning our first trip to NYC, I was pretty unsure of where to stay. Holiday Inn Express exceeded my expectations! It fit my budget nicely. We ended up staying 5 nights and paid less than $100 a night. This also included a great breakfast, which included pancakes, eggs, sausage, pastries, cereal, yogurt, etc.
It was newly renovated. The rooms were extremely small, but efficient. I guess that is probably pretty normal for the area. The hotel had a great location. It was just 2-3 blocks to Time Square. Also 2-3 blocks to Broadway shows in the theatre district. It was on a less busy side street so traffic wasn't such an issue.
The hotel was on the west side in midtown... Which basically meant you could walk everywhere! We were able to walk to Central Park, the MET, Natural History Museum, Lincoln Center, 5th Avenue shopping, Macy's, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Broadway shows, anted Time's Square. The only time we braved the subway was to go to the south ferry for Statue of Liberty. The subway was easy to use as well. The closest subway station was about 3 blocks from the hotel.
Overall great deal and location! Would recommend!

I have stayed in this hotel twice. It is a good location. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is pretty dated decor-wise, but clean. Walls are thin and the heat is either hot or off. But, the windows open!
My daughter and I recently stayed at 414 Hotel. From our arrival to our departure, we were treated with exceptional service. 414 Hotel is clean and comfortable. Strawberry and Susan are wonderful. They were friendly, inviting and very attentive. 414 Hotel is our first choice of stay and we will be back. Thank you. Roxann

Some of NYC’s best-known landmarks are north of 14th and south of 59th—or Midtown Manhattan. Its western half is home to Manhattan's largest venues: the Javits Center and Madison Square Garden. In the Garment District, designers try to stay a cut above fashion's latest trends. Nearby, Hell's Kitchen is hot thanks to Restaurant Row. In one block on West 46th, diners can dash from Bangkok to Brazil.
