"We recently stayed at the Adults Only section of the Barcelo Grand Resort and it exceeded all our expectations. By choosing the AO, you receive access to all other hotels within this “community” that has a mile of beachfront and is landlocked with no public access, making it feel very private. The à la carte restaurants were all very good (my favorite being Sapporo which is a Japanese restaurant), room service was good and the buffet provided lots of options and were decent as well. You can also eat at restaurants and buffets at the other resorts as well, but we did not. We chose the premium option which I felt was worth it for access to the premium lounge areas. Everyone we dealt with was very friendly and helpful. The beach area is huge and chairs were always available on the beach when we were there. The pool was a little harder to find chairs if you aren’t out there early, but that would literally be my only complaint of people saving seats and never showing up. We were there mid-April and the sargassum (seaweed) is definitely there, but they do an amazing job to keep it as clean as possible. It varies day to day depending on the winds and weather, so just keep that in mind. However, you can usually walk a little further up the beach within that mile stretch and find areas with no seaweed. There are good areas for snorkeling and swimming in the ocean as well as a pier to walk out on and see the sea turtles. I could go on and on… we’ll definitely be back!"

"We had a wonderful overall experience—especially for our first time visiting the area. Choosing this resort turned out to be a great decision. The staff were exceptional, with Martin and Bernie going above and beyond to make our trip truly memorable. The resort itself is huge, which we loved because there was always something to do each day. The restaurants were great with plenty of options, and the ice cream shop quickly became one of our favorite spots. The drinks were consistently delicious—and actually strong, which was a big plus. The only drawback was the beach. There was sargassum present almost every day during our stay, which made it difficult to enjoy the ocean. Aside from that, we would absolutely recommend this resort. The rooms are well-equipped, and the recent renovations make them look beautiful. We genuinely enjoyed our stay and would gladly return."

"Casino on property is very outdated with old slot machines. Very small square footage with very dark lighting. Tables are limited to about 6 total. Must pay a 7 percent fee on winnings on tables above what you bought in for. If you have losing receipts, you can claim them as a loss up until your same amount of winnings in order to not pay taxes on. Slot machines are a different deal all together. You go to the counter, give them amount you want to play, and they put a amount on a card for the slots. The percentage for winnings is a Mexican law, not the casinos, is what they told us. Casino does not open until 6:00 p.m. at night. Blackjack tables were a minimum of a $10 bet with three to two odds. I played four nites and came out losing still. If you are a casino player, this is not the most popular entertainment. Even though the casino stated they were not part of the resort, I feel the resort could do a better job in getting a better entertainment in a casino for it's customers."

"Very disappointed with this resort. I chose it based on reviews that did not match reality. The rooms were clean, but the bathrooms were very outdated. There was no visible security, guests were fighting around 2–3 AM after parties, and no staff came to check on them, which felt unsafe and disrupted sleep. The beach also had no security. Buffet food was limited, soups were overly salty, and items were not refilled if you came later. Not suitable for a relaxing vacation—more of a party place. Would not recommend for relaxing."
