We’ve got the lowdown on how to make your journey as enjoyable as possible. Follow our tips and you’ll be hightailing it through the airport and having a ball in Phuket in no time at all. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a comfortable experience if you bring the right things. Firstly, you’ll need basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a clean set of clothes and a good read. Secondly, make room in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, any medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like tools, metal cutlery, fireworks and fuel. Sports equipment like golf clubs, and objects that could injure passengers, such as swords and batons, aren’t allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane are no fashion runway. Don comfortable layers and don’t forget to bring a sweater as the temperature can drop in the cabin on long-haul flights. Flat, enclosed shoes are always a good choice too.
- Caused by sustained periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a condition that can affect passengers during long-haul flights. But the great news is there are ways to lower your risk of developing it. Drink plenty of water, get up and walk around the cabin wherever possible and wear compression tights or socks.
