"The apartment suite is in a 2-year-old building connected to a shopping mall with food courts, restaurants, a money exchange, and a supermarket. If it's raining, you can get back to the apartment from the mall without going outside — there are dedicated elevators from the mall to the apartment. The building has an outdoor pool, a gym, and a table tennis table on the 9th floor. The gym equipment is well maintained and the pool is always clean. Front desk, cleaning, and security staff are all friendly and helpful, and responded to my inquiries promptly. My suite is air-conditioned and has a fan in every room to help circulate air. It was very clean — no dust or hair on the floor. There's a washer but no dryer; a drying rack is available in the laundry room, and you can also hang laundry on the balcony. The apartment is at least 20 minutes from Georgetown/city core, roughly halfway between the airport and Georgetown. If you like authentic local cuisine and want to eat where locals go, this is a great spot. My only complaint: no venting fan in the washroom and no hood fan in the kitchen, so a hot shower will fog up the bathroom and mirror, and the kitchen is really only good for reheating food — cooking smells just circulate back into the suite instead of venting out."

"The E&O is Georgetown's premier hotel. It offers travellers an elegant experience from a bygone era of travel. The suite in the victory annex was gorgeous and opened onto an ocean view with beautiful breezes. The breakfast and food were fantastic. The heritage pool is warmer and worth the walk into the older building. The only complaint concerns the mini fridge in the room, which was burned out and kept what would have been lovely cold drinks at a not-so-cold 36C. I reported the matter, and the electrician attended. There was the obligatory shrugging of the shoulders and the very nicely mumbled 'so sorry, no spare fridge' excuse given. Still, it is Malaysia, and you have to expect that. The place kind of works, but in a duct tape and held together with rope kind of way. This was consistent with the electrical wiring in the room, where I had to flick two or three switches to get the bathroom light over the bathroom mirror working. All part of the charm to be honest, as they say in Latin America, mañana (tomorrow). If you want a Singapore exprience, where everything works perfectly, then stay on the airplane for another 90 minutes down to Changi Airport at the other end of the Malacca Straits. I have to complement the General Manager Alison Fraser and her staff, they provide a great experience. I commend you to the E&O and would return without hesitation."

"This is my second at this property.The room and facilities are modern and relatively new and well kept. However, the staff needs to be better trained. On the last day of our stay (our rooms had late checkout), we went back to the rooms to prepare for checkout, but we were locked out of the room. We went down to reception and the staff said she fixed the issue, so we went back up again only to find the keys still didn't work. So we went to reception again and was told it was fixed for the 2nd time. Upon reaching the room, the keys still didn't work. We had to go to reception for the 3rd time before we can finally enter the rooms. The staff didn't apologise or make any effort to call for additional assistance and was quite indifferent to the situation. We stayed at so many properties before and if a similar room lock out situation occurred, the other properties would have asked a staff to accompany the guest to check on the room after the 2nd attempt failed, but unfortunately, this was not the case here. A good property only to be let down by bad service."
