"We had a wonderful stay at The Grand, York. The rooms are big, beautifully maintained, and incredibly comfortable. The bed was excellent, and the shower was powerful and relaxing — exactly what you want after a long day. The food was very good, with great quality and variety, and the service throughout the hotel was outstanding. "Staff at Oulton Hall are the stand out feature. From check in to Oliver in the restaurant to the waiting staff at breakfast, all are well above expectations. Old school service where staff wait for you to pass rather than rushing to get where THEY need to be is actually quite refreshing these days. Can some things be improved, sure but this hotel has a lovely pool, great dinner and breakfast and just a lovely vibe. Check it out, for the most of us, it’s a wonderful experience. "

"Was disappointed to find that there was no available gym in the hotel, even though it is advertised as such. The sofa bed in the room was broken, as was the air-conditioning. Staff attempted to fix it but didn’t make a difference. When we visited, there was a pile of mattresses sitting in the lobby. Surely there’s a better way to manage this. We shared our complaints with staff at the hotel but they showed little interest so I hope management will take note "

"Great hotel, clean, comfortable rooms, helpful staff, valet parking was great, hand over the car on arrival and walk everywhere. Fantastic location 3 - 4 min walk to the shambles, excellent restaurants and quaint bars & pubs and just 2 mins from the jordvik center. Would definitely stay again"
