"My experience at this resort was extremely disappointing and frustrating from the moment I arrived. On the very first day, I was forced to change rooms three separate times due to mistakes made by the resort staff. After the inconvenience of repeatedly packing and moving my belongings, I was told that the only solution was to upgrade my room, which cost me an additional $200. What made the situation even worse was what happened at checkout. Despite already paying the $200 upgrade fee, the resort attempted to charge me another $180 for the same room upgrade along with additional resort taxes that had never been clearly explained beforehand. Waiting until a guest is ready to leave to present unexpected charges feels deceptive and unprofessional. I will say that one of the highlights of my trip was the massage service. The massage was excellent, and the spa staff provided a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, even that positive experience was overshadowed by being heavily solicited to purchase a timeshare valued at approximately $35,000. While I understand resorts may promote ownership opportunities, the sales pressure felt excessive and took away from the vacation atmosphere. The constant room changes, lack of communication, surprise fees, and aggressive sales tactics created unnecessary stress during what should have been a relaxing vacation. I felt as though the resort was more focused on generating additional revenue than providing quality customer service."

"Beautiful property, helpful and friendly staff, clean rooms. We had an amazing experience at El Dorado Maroma. The property was gorgeous- well maintained and so many beautiful plants and flowers. The staff was so helpful and kind and most of them spoke English well which we really appreciated. The restaurants were all al a carte- so you order off a menu instead of a buffet. This makes meals move a bit slower but that forces you to relax and take in the scenery. The restaurant staff were all extremely careful about food allergies. Several pools, two of which had swim up bars. Their “more inclusive” plan means our transportation to and from the airport was included as well as a trip to a ranch with a cenote. They also include a catamaran snorkeling trip and day trip to a water park which we did not do. Some of these “extras” were only offered on certain days so I recommend staying a full week to take advantage of all they offer. We also enjoyed live music by the pool, daily crafts and a fire show in the beach. The beach- beautiful soft white sand and plenty of comfortable cabanas and lounge chairs and umbrellas. Unfortunately there was TONS of seaweed on the beach. Apparently it was the season for it and this is a problem in all of riviera maya and Cancun area. The staff worked hard every morning to clear as much as they could. Overall a great experience- would definitely return!"

"We stayed in a Garden View room. On our first night around 10 PM, the AC began leaking in our room in Building 5, and we had to be transferred to Building 4. It was frustrating having to walk back, pack everything up, and switch rooms that late at night. A bellhop to assist us immediately would have been appreciated, and I was hoping the resort might offer some type of upgrade or gesture for the inconvenience, but that wasn’t provided. That said, the hospitality and service from the staff were excellent, and the food was outstanding. If you’re looking for a resort that actually feels like Mexico, this place delivers. Unlike some of the large concrete-style resorts, the property feels vibrant, tropical, and full of character, especially with the wildlife throughout the grounds. The lazy river and pool areas were a highlight. The waterfalls, bridges, and overall design make the resort feel unique and relaxing. The drinks were decent, though nothing particularly memorable. The Don Julio bar was a standout, especially for the martinis. Food was easily a 10/10. The buffet was average compared to the specialty restaurants, but still good. Overall, I wouldn’t necessarily return every year, but it’s definitely a resort I’d recommend experiencing at least once and would consider visiting again in the future."

"CONS -Food was the same pretty much everywhere you go. -No music at the beach or pool besides the foam party. -2+ hours for a walk in restaurant -Can’t get reservations for restaurants. -The “vouchers” or “resort credit” are absolutely useless unless you go to the spa or golf, has to be a single item 100 dollar purchase for 25 dollars off. Can’t stack them -room service never followed any directions/comments, our food was always cold -really try to sell you on their “time share” -Not much activity’s -gotta get up at the butt crack of dawn in order to get a seat at the pool PROS - resort was beautiful -kid loved the splash pad -the Maya suite was huge -the main pool was big (no music though and only two bartenders for 40 swim up stools) -plenty of seating at the beach (couldn’t swim in the ocean as of 5/30/2026) -golf course beautiful -their night shows are awesome THE Eh -resort was huge so near impossible to see everything in a week. Overall, I’d try out a different resort next time."
