Kampar is a laidback town in Perak which is easy to access and to traverse. If there is one thing more prevalent throughout Kampar than anything else, it is Chinese food. Food is a highlight of Kampar with the locals serving up traditional recipes which draw people from all the surrounding areas. Kampar may not have the most number of accommodation providers available, but for those that are here, provide great value.
Homestays are always a good option when visiting Malaysia. The best place to look a homestay when visiting Kampar is in the stretch lying between Bandar Baru Kampar and Old Town, the rates here are on par with the good hotels and the comfort is often better.
Surrounding the town centre of Kampar are a few good hotels. The prices are fantastic and the amenities are basic, but nothing is lacking. Given the small size of this town, you will find that local transport surrounding the town area makes travelling anywhere from here very easy.

Two huge bronze sculptures of Einstein and Confucius can be seen amid the town of Kampar. These were gifted to local government by the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman and are truly mammoth creations. Weighing approximately 300 kilograms, or 661 pounds, each, this is art which will never go overlooked.
The Malim Nawar Chimney is an old World War II carbide factory found in the village of Kampung Tanjung Bangkung. Towering at eighteen metres, or 59-feet, high, the tower is situated in a scenic residential area surrounded by dragon fruit fields. It’s a great place to explore.
Don’t miss out on the local cuisine. Delicacies such as Ipoh White Coffee and Gai Si Hor Fun are found in restaurants across Kampar and are essential for every traveller to try. White coffee is a specialty whereby the beans are roasted in palm oil margarine, giving the beverage a unique flavour. It is also typically served with condensed milk. Gai Si Hor Fun is a flat rice noodle chicken soup unlike any other, and a local dish that you can’t miss.
Regardless of which local food you decide to sample, the fresh seafood is unbeatable. Dishes such as and seafood fried rice are unforgettable and served throughout the area.
