"Very friendly management and staff. Large choice on main menu, would have liked a bit of choice for breakfast - smoked salmon or kippers for example. Talking of breakfast, try and be down at 8 or 9 o'clock to hear the cacophony of all the non-synchronised clocks chiming. "

"Had an impromptu night away over Bank Holiday. We picked the 1st sunny weekend and Matlock was packed with tourists. The hotel is nice, reception were very pleasant and helpful. Room was spacious and clean. TV didn't work, but we weren't in the room to watch TV. My only small complaint is the bar is open all day, but it can be a bit tricky to find someone to serve. It's also only open until 22:00 and the restaurant stops serving food at 20:00. It would have been nice to have a few nights here...
