"Great stay."

"It was a quiet lodge. No staff were around, which wasn't an issue for our 1 night stay. The room was comfortable, and nicely decorated. A few bottles of water in the fridge would be a nice addition. We appreciated the hot cocoa and tea selection as non-coffee drinkers."

"The room was okay. Pillows very thin. I had tiny bugs in the bathroom which I informed the person in the office. He said he would let his pest control people know. That didn’t help me out any. There is a portable heater provided to make the room warm(er), which seemed odd for a motel/hotel to have."

The swimming pool wasn't open, but there are many lake side available to swim, etc."

"Heater was broken, took 4 different ppl to finally come fix it only for it to break again. Manager moved us to a different room but we spent the first 2 nights in the cold. At the new room, someone was smoking in the hallway and it seemed into our room. I called the front desk and they said thanks for letting us know and did nothing about it. For how much I paid I am upset about my experience. (Oh and you have to pay extra for parking!) Im not coming back here."

"Black Bear Lodge was such a nice surprise! The rooms and decor are tasteful and very comfortable, and the true test is the quality linens and towels and extra pillows without asking. The grounds show personal touches like flower beds, raised planters, terraced areas with multiple seating options, and best of all is the total peace and quiet. You are close to South Shore if that is your thing, and skiing at Heavenly in winter is right up the road—you can see Gun Barrel from your room. The staff...

"The property was under construction and the pool in the gym are completely closed. Throughout the stay they woukd rerouted us to take different stairwells. It felt like chaos."

"I think it’s a great quaint motel right before you hit the busy zones of Tahoe and right outside Tahoe Valley campground. The property is family owned and very well maintained. The room is clean and nice and has all the basics you need. I really loved the lighted bathroom mirrors. Parking was plenty plus easy to park a truck. "Excellent location. Heavenly village and restaurants are at a walking distance - some really good places to have a relaxing lunch/dinner with live music. Very helpful staff, clean room and good options for breakfast. A caveat that surprised us was buffet breakfast is only available on weekends. Weekdays is ala carte with packages (omlette package contains choice of omlette, juice/coffee, housemade potatoes).
