"The room and bathroom were so tiny, so we need to squeeze between table and bed, tolet seat and wall. There no closet for your clothes. Many breakfast pictures aren’t what is shown on website. Location is good only for transportation - metro is close by, but no supermarket nearby and restaurant is not available at the hotel."

"This property is directly across from the train station so it’s a great location if you are on the go. It is further away from the main Kyoto strip that we spent most of our time. I wish I had known that before booking but otherwise it was a great stay."

"Our stay here exceeded our expectations. Rooms were clean, decent size, but it was the staff and amenities that made this property truely shine. The staff was extremely helpful, we didn’t expect to eat breakfast here but after trying one day, we decided to get breakfast at hotel as much as possible. Having a warm bowl of ramen at end of day was a really nice touch. The onsen was well maintained and amazing after a long day of walking. And the little touch of having free ice cream for after using onsen was especially nice. Has free washers and coin operated dryers which we did utilize. Will definitely book again on our next visit."

"The hotel needs a major refresh. The carpet in the room is visibly old and needs to be replaced. The vinyl flooring in the bathroom is stained and in terrible shape. The general cleaning for the actual room was good - the bathroom has a great shower. The bed was clean and the sheets were clean. The restaurants in the hotel are outrageously over priced. The morning buffet is also over priced - and they close too early. At 10:00 am they shut it down with no warning. The first time we got caught off guard and hardly had enough to eat. The other times we loaded up our trays to the brim so we would have enough food. The dinner menu is good but again over priced and the portions small. The location is outstanding right at the train station and close by is a great department store. The carpet in the hallway is very dirty - there we crumbs on it for three days. And the corners of the walls were in bad shape. The price is very high. I would stay elsewhere and take a taxi to the train station as it would be cheaper and I am sure I could get a nicer up to date hotel."

"My Rihga Gran Kyoto stay was wonderful. I loved my room & the property in general. There were lots of elegant features & breakfast was scrumptious. The staff was challenging. The front desk staff struggled to communicate, not because of the language (Google translate eliminates that problem) but because of their frame of reference. Simple things like help booking a dinner at a full place was so hard for them ton imagine. can you call & see if they have room for 1 person at the bar was inconceivable to them. They were astounded when I was repeatedly able to get in to places the website said were full. Same thing with requests to update my key when I added dates to my stay. No you must come down on the check out day & get a new key for the additional 3 rooms. No was their favorite word. So different from the staff at my Tokyo & Osaka hotels. I want to add that it takes them forever to do anything & always requires 3 people. I had some medication sent to me through DHL. It was very hard to get them to tell me when it arrived. They really need at least 1 English speaker."
