"We stayed at Bahia Principe/Esmeralda. $350 to “upgrade” our room was an absolute nightmare after 12-hrs of traveling with kids since check in took twice as long and went from a 2-bed room to a 1-bed room. The dinner reservations cleared out too so we were not able to try the steakhouse. Workers in the spa were arguing among themselves before entering our couples massage. Most of the hotel and restaurant staff was rude and need customer service training. The app glitches A LOT and not enough...

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was so terrible that I feel obligated to warn other travelers.
From the moment we arrived, everything went wrong. We were assigned a room with a horrible odor and an air conditioning system that barely worked. The room was uncomfortable, hot, and impossible to enjoy. We reported the issue immediately and were moved to another room, only to find ourselves dealing with similar problems again....
