Not a good experience at all. Starting with check-in, the person behind the counter was unfriendly and border line rude, started by showing a map of the resort and crossing off two thirds and saying you can't go here, do you want to pay more to use these parts? (This information was not available when booking) I said can you tell me what I actually can use then we'll see? He responded fine go try and see but you have to pay for three nights minimum like some sort of warning and sent us away. I almost apologized for getting their normal package and wasting their time. At the room, bathroom sink was not clean, there was an opened half drank bottle of water in the mini bar, and on the second night had to fish a roach out of the bed. Some restaurants needed reservations on the website, but nothing was available at anytime, not even trying in early mornings. When I responded negatively to a survey, the Expedia concierge reached out and made reservations like pulling a favor getting us in to a very exclusive restaurant! Problem with all this was restaurants were not crowded at all, all of them were half empty all the time. The first come first served one made us wait for 45 minutes, again when the place was visibly half empty. For all the annoying steps to get to food, the quality was mediocre at best and for some of the places very poor. The coffee shop was the best place, with good coffee and friendly staff, and no wonder it was always crowded. Overall, I do not recommend this

We stayed at Ocean el faro with some friends, we had 2 swim up pool rooms. They were fantastic! The lazy river was so much fun and all the other pools were very nice as well. We did upgrade to the privilege package (you have a concierge who books all your reservations and sees to whatever you need) you also have access to a different dining area of you want. The beach was nice as well. We tried almost all the restaurants and did not have a single bad meal! We will definitely come back to ocean el faro again!

This was our second stay at Ocean El Faro. Like our first visit, we enjoyed the pools and beach. The food was good - not amazing. We had booked a Privilege Master Swim-up Suite - adults only. We knew these suites are on the El Faro side of the resort, but confirmed with the resort and Expedia that we would still be able to access the adults-only facilities. We were turned away from the adults-only restaurant and were not able to resolution about this from the resort. The most disappointing experience was the spa. We arrived for our hydrotherapy circuit to find the sauna cold, the steam room barely warm and the pool cold with few jets working. When I returned to the locker room, my bag was missing from the locker it had been locked in. An employee came out of the washroom and I told her my bag was missing. She did not speak English but I was able to gesture enough and then she showed me inside the toilet stall where she had been. My bag was there - and fortunately nothing had been taken from it yet. I believe the employee claimed that she “found” my bag, but find that extremely suspicious that she would have taken it into a toilet stall instead of to the reception desk. Also, at the time, we were the only guests in the spa as it had just opened (and due to the state of it, we had only been there about 10 minutes) so no one other than staff could have taken it out of my locked locker. A word of caution for anyone considering the spa. We did make a complaint at guest services.

Do not understand why this property has 5 stars. Although the pools and outdoor amenities are nice, the hotel rooms are insanely outdated and not well kept. Our room had a very strong smell of mold, so much so that we left the next day instead of staying for our initially planned 5 days. The bathroom was also old, shower was dirty , and toilet would run for hours and not flush. Also, food was awful in every venue we tried.

We have stayed three times now and love the resort. The room was clean but the couch in the room was heavily stained and we asked for extra blankets to cover the couch. I wouldn't let that one situatation deter me from returning. We absolutely love the property and the staff

Hector Matos was very helpful and easily accessible we appreciate him as our butler. Definitely recommend resort for families. All activities are too catered to children. Although the resort is nice the adults have nothing for entertainment at night.

The resort had everything that you could dream of. Our concierge service was top notch! Dinner reservations were scheduled and on time each night. Food was delicious and plentiful. The pools were just as amazing as the beach. We will return!

My main issue was the room which had a leaking shower and smell and when we changed rooms we still had issues with the room. The property was great in my opinion except for the people that would leave towels on the lounge chairs the night before.

Had a great time and enjoyed the lazy river. We’ve stayed at several of the major all inclusive chains and thought the food here was better than most.

***BEWARE*** recently travelled to Ocean El Faro Punta Cana as a spring break trip in a group of 4. By the second day one of our group was severely sick with food poisoning. I called the front desk to bring bottled water to the room in which never came. I went down to the lobby and explained what was happening and they had no concern and REFUSED to hand me over water. They wrote down my room number and said someone will bring some which never happened… by day 3 myself fell ill with extreme food poisoning and by day 5 our 3rd member of our group fell ill. This resort has very poor food safety, many items at the buffet would be room temperature even at the start of service. The staff did not care or try to help. There was a doctor on the resort which would cost $300 USD just to see. Overall the staff seemed to not care of the wellbeing of their guests, along with poor health and safety conditions I would not recommend this resort.

Up on arrival we entered to this large impressive lobby for check in, staff was very polite and friendly. We checked in to super large room on the grand floor. Our advisor Miguel Garrido was great and super helpful, he was checking on us everyday and make sure that we enjoyed everything. Special Thank you for the Jelly club ladies as they are always happy to interact with your kids. Fun entertainment every night we did enjoy the most the fire show on the beach. Things to improve, my opinion if this is a family friendly resort the adult section should not be mixed up with rest of the resort restaurants and this could be very confusing. Also to access the restaurants you have to plan ahead otherwise you will be stuck in the long wait. Coffee shop was always very busy from open to closed wait time for coffee was annoying and could take up to 45 minutes for a small coffee, for size of this property they need at least one more coffee shop or area in the lobby for that. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Very nice resort. Unfortunately the food got all 4 of us very sick with food poisoning. Food at the buffet is not kept cold/warm/ all food and any other pour food conditions you can think of were present. We paid a good amount to stay here and spent the majority of our time in our rooms over the toilet. Staff was very friendly, and the property is nice, however spending 4/7 days stuck over the toilet is obviously not worth it. Definitely don’t recommend and will not be returning:(

Lovely facilities, lobby was very nice, pools were great, lazy river was the highlight, lots of seating and shade, and beaches were pretty. Staff were nice, but not 5/5. The room was musty when we came in, but a dehumidifier and helped.

Second trip to Ocean El Faro! Stayed in a Privilege Junior Suite Pool View. Had a great room with views of the ocean and Privilege Pool. Service was amazing! Jose was an outstanding butler who made our stay effortless. Jonh and Justina were great bartenders at the privilege pool. Overall, great resort! Would return again!

We were pleasantly surprised with this resort. The property was big enough to always feel like there was something to do, but never felt overwhelming and even at full capacity we easily found beach or pool chairs and rarely waited anything. Food was decent, and our favourite location to eat was the privilege lounge. The food is delicious, the service was great and the view of the ocean was breathtaking. Special shout out to Our concierge Deiby as he helped make our vacation feel effortless and to the all privileged pool bar staff for mixing delicious drinks (Jonathan makes the best mojito) and for making our kids feel special by making endless kid friendly fancy drinks. Would return again.

The room is good, wi-fi works well, the staff is ok, but if you eat in El Mercado you will need to be a little patient with the service, in my opinion they need more workers in all restaurants to attend the demand. They told me they would give me a welcome gift, but when I went to collect it, they asked for 60 minutes of my time to offer me a premium package. That was fine, but it didn't just take 60 minutes, but more than two and a half hours of my already limited time to enjoy my trip, as I was only staying three nights. I received the gift, but if I had known in advance, I would have preferred to have gone without the gift instead of wasting my time. However I loved the external areas and if I have other opportunity I would love to go back with more time.
