The historic Riverside district of Bangkok is among the city’s most charming and appealing areas. Resting on the ancient banks of the Chao Phraya River, this neighbourhood is a fantastic mix of heritage structures and modern marvels. It is the traditional heart of Bangkok, so visitors will find historic markets, old temples and glamorous temples. There are a lot of different places of interest found within the Bangkok Riverside district, making it truly magnificent tourist destination.
Asiatique is a relatively new shopping and dining facility with spectacular views of the river. There is even a Ferris wheel which gives visitors an unspoiled view of the Bangkok skyline too. The complex is set upon Charoen Krung Road, making it easy to reach from downtown Bangkok.
Several famous temples reside within the Riverside district. Arguably the most famous is Wat Arun, translated as the Temple of Dawn. This ancient structure has been standing since the birth of Bangkok. With its glittery stupa sparkling each sunrise, it has become one of Bangkok’s most renowned landmarks. Wat Kalayanamit and Wat Phra Kaew are two other temples that visitors should miss either.
While at the Riverside district, exploring the river and its canals is an absolute must. There are dozens of different boats to choose from, but the traditional long boats certainly give a more distinct cultural feel. Tourists can travel through the Thonburi canal ways to view life on the water. This is one of Bangkok’s most intriguing cultural experiences.Restaurants and Bars
The Bangkok Riverside district is filled with an amazing array of restaurants. Plenty of famous Thai seafood restaurants operate along the banks of the river; some have done so for many years. This spot also boasts several fantastic pubs and cafés, which provide an excellent evening out.
