"My stay at Santiago Guest House Kyoto was even better than I expected. The location is perfect, and the dorm setup gives you enough privacy while still feeling cozy and social. The guest house has everything you might need — washing machines, a comfortable common area, and a lovely café. But what really made the experience special were the owners — incredibly friendly, welcoming, and kind. We even had an amazing karaoke night together and met wonderful people. "Run by the sweet lady in the shop on the 1st floor. She's very friendly when you take the chance to talk to her and don't let the language barrier get in the way. If you treat her kindly and with respect she will treat you like family, me and my girlfriend exchanged gifts and photos with her and made memories, she even told us to come back and see her again sometime when back in Japan. Felt like we got adopted a little. Hotel is pretty much across the street from the bus and train station, also...

"Stayed 2 nights to do the Nakasendo trail and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The entire place was spotless and the service was too notch. We were a bit hesitant on the shared bathrooms, however it was not a concern at all. The city of Nakatsugawa is a hidden gem and we enjoyed our stay here, can’t recommend it enough if you’re in the area! "

Ken and Ise were very welcoming and helpful with helping us get settled, finding our way around Nikko and just generally friendly and helpful. If you're interested in a more homey atmosphere vs. Corporate hotel this is the place for you "
