All Staff were excellent, Food was excellent, room was lovely. My only niggle (and it is a niggle) was that our room also had the upstairs fire escape door - which was not mentioned at all (ie, what to do in event of a fire and whether our bedroom was the fire escape access for all the rooms in our section).
Loved the room. Great facility. Food good. Staff in pub a bit chaotic - think they were training new as took 2 hours for dinner. Breakfast in dining room was a better experience. Recommend. Lovely location
We arrived for a few days as we had never visited this part of the country before! Good food, great welcome, lovely room with quality little extras, shower cream, shampoo, conditioner,a tray with an array of teas, coffees, even hot chocolate. Be sure yo book your table in the dining room early and try the Fishermans Platter to share. You will not be disappointed!
Excellent room spacious with 2 comfortable chairs .
Top en-suite with an good walk -in shower as well as a roll top bath .
Staff friendly and efficient ,quality of food ,both an evening meal and breakfast couldn't be faulted ,
Would stay again when in Northumber land
Amazing stay! Comfortable bed, delicious food, friendly staff. Cannot express how much we enjoyed our stay here. Only one night but wish we could have stayed for more. They changed our room to one with a bathtub easily, the room was spacious the staff was kind and the room warmed up nicely to enjoy a rainy evening in. They had everything we needed for a wonderful night. Would stay here again in a heart beat
We enjoyed our recent stay here. The room was excellent with a spotless new bathroom and comfortable bed. Better pillows would have been nice but not a problem for a short stay.
The food was very good but the service rather slow. We weren't in any hurry but 30-40 minutes to produce breakfast after ordering seemed a bit excessive.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful so positive overall.
The pub hotel has been modernised. Room was very smart. Bathroom spacious and modern. Food was excellent.
Only area of improvement would be to start breakfast earlier - 8.30 is too late!
Stayed in River Till room, really spacious and comfortable. The bathroom had a separate claw foot bath which was wonderful after long days of walking. Only small complaint was that there was no shelving etc in the bathroom to store toiletries.
We booked evening meals each night and they were delicious and generous portions.
Breakfasts were nice, but seemed a bit hit and miss with regard to offer of fruit juice, tops ups of tea/coffee and the cooking of poached egg, so tried fried egg the next day which was fine but day after the fried egg wasn’t cooked fully.
Having said this, staff were lovely and friendly and we would stay again.
The room we were given at first hadn’t been cleaned properly there were stains on the coffee table and on the tray, the dust on the tv was thick! the window was open and looked out on a scruffy canopy above the kitchen so we had all the smells from that in the room, so I went to ask if there was another superior room we could have,as this stay was part of my wife’s birthday trip, fortunately they had one next door which was much better, not sure why you would stick someone in a smelly kitchen room when you have a better room available? Note to staff always give the best room you can if it’s available (no brainer!) as for the staff apart from being young and inexperienced they were helpful. The food was excellent we had dinner there and the breakfast was really good too. The quality of the bathrooms and beds and bedding were really good and the rooms decor could do with some touching up which would elevate this property, also I’d get a new cleaning team in! Even in the public areas of the pub and reception there was dead insects and flaking paint on the window culls which a hoover would have not gone a miss.
Lovely room with excellent bathroom/shower. Good food and friendly staff.
Handy location for various parts of Northumberland.
Would certainly recommend.
Lovely friendly pub, very comfy bedroom. Staff were amazing , could not do enough for you. Excellent food , both at breakfast and on an evening. Will definitely visit again.
What a find on our driving trip around Northumbria! Beautiful rooms in a small pub. The food in the pub was fantastic (so much so we ate there both nights of our stay) and the staff were just brilliant. The included breakfast was incredible! It was a great location for exploring the surrounding area like Alnwick and Bamburgh castles. Highly recommend it and we would definitely stay there again if travelling to that part of the UK.
The fact that as a hotel that they didn't offer dinner during our stay on either Tuesday or Wednesday evening - kitchen issues although a cooked breakfast was
Parking on site was a problem and street parking was a problem too with residents having no parking signs outside their houses.
We found the room very good however the bed was uncomfortable for us.
