We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay here with our three teenagers before a cruise. We had two huge adjoining rooms where we could spread out a bit. The location was perfect to enjoy all the sights of Venice and we enjoyed our happy hour at both upstairs roof and downstairs bar. Would stay again!

Truly wonderful. Staff was great especially at the concierge. Paolo was top notch. Alvise was exceptional. These men should be commended on their great help and service.

It’s a lovely, old hotel in an excellent location. The rooms are large and clean. Hotel is old so no new fixtures in bathroom and wallpaper could be original!! Lol. But we truly enjoyed our stay there.

A great location, just off St. Mark's Square. configuration of floors and elevators is odd. Staff was friendly, not very helpful. Room was clean and spacious, a bit worn out. Refrigerator in room non-functional. Roof top Bar and breakfast both nice areas, but very pricey.... (Breakfast buffet $5, Standard Martini $30).

We stay there whenever in Venice. The staff is friendly and accommodating to all requests. The terrace on Grand Canal is a wonderful place for hanging out and the hotel is an easy walk from St. Marks, museums and designer shops. Breakfast is included and abundant, and drinks and/or snacks outside on the terrace is a joy in good weather. The 7th-floor bar and restaurant provide a breathtaking panorama of the city.

Really liked the Bauer. Amazing location to launch into various neighborhoods in Venice. Somewhat touristy and heavy with high end retail. While the room was a bit less modern than other hotel options it was clean and sufficed for our stay. The staff was very friendly and responsive. The rooftop bar was a highlight.

The Bauer is about to close for a 2 year major and much-needed remodeling that will upgrade the entire property which is old and tired. But I have to say the room I had was excellent, spotless and extremely comfortable. And the location on the Grand Canal is perfect.

Really enjoyed staying at the Baur. They provided free transportation to Murano & Burano. Location is great! Breakfast was great on the water with heaters for cool mornings outside.

Have been to Venice many times, but was celebrating a special birthday and decided to go to a grand hotel on the canal. This is not it. When we arrived, and started to check in, it was relatively easy. However, when we got to our room, we discovered that there was no key for the safe. When we called the front desk, they informed us they would bring up the key. 40 minutes later the key does not arrive, so we had to go back down to the front desk and they had to find the key. Also on the same day we had requested an extra pillow, that of course, did not arrive either until much much later. Our room was large but very, very tired and dark as it had zero view/natural light from any window. The hotel staff was pleasant although totally ineffective. When we ordered a water taxi to get to the mainland, they told us that it would be about a 10 min wait, and even gave us the water taxi number of the boat to be on the lookout when it arrive. It did arrive and they gave it away to someone else…it took a long time for us to get any water taxi, even though they were lined up at the hotel waiting for passengers. If you are looking for a special Venice hotel, skip this one. They seem to cater to small and medium size tourist groups and are not interested in the individual traveler. I would say it was not worth the money.
