"The hotel is a great place to stay for a visit to Universal Studios. I would recommend walking to the park instead of waiting for the shuttle. It's not a long walk and is less crowded. The room was clean and the lobby market has a decent selection of snacks. However, our room smelled overwhelmingly of bleach and the AC was too loud. Also, the elevator was almost always out of order during the four days that we were there. The parking is convenient and covered. It is a good value for the price"

"Cute hotel seemingly with a lot of historic charm. Decent location on Melrose. A great pastry & coffee shop right on the corner, but the name escapes me. And one block away from a fantastic Italian Osteria, Osteria La Buca-Melrose. Pretty good Colombian restaurant across the way, too. A couple of markets nearby. Centrally located in the Hollywood area. Overall a good & comfortable stay. Room was clean. Could the neighborhood be a bit more bustling? Perhaps. But it wasn’t dead either and you can walk to a number of things. Could the hotel use some TLC? Probably. But, it’s by no means run down or neglected. It’s in adequate condition and for the price & location, it’s a good stay. And I would stay again. Excellent customer service, too. I had to check out one night early to get home to my dog and the front desk staff refunded me for the one night which I thought was unexpected and a demonstration of great customer service. I didn’t get to make it to the hotel’s bar & restaurant, the Edmon, but it is highly rated. Next time!"
