We have been to Madrid a few times but never had time to really explore the city. It is beautiful, with many sights to enjoy and restaurants to explore. We walked all over and never felt unsafe, though we were never out much past 10:30 or 11:00 PM.

There was a relaxed atmosphere and although the footfall was heavy the locals were helpful and welcoming. The metro was immaculate and not very busy at the times we used it. Food and drink is much cheaper than the UK and there are plenty of choices.

I liked Madrid much more than I expected to. As soon as we arrived, the airport was quite striking. Driving into Madrid, it felt a lot like Paris to me, which I did not expect. I loved walking through town to the different museums. Returning!

We've been to Barcelona and Malaga. Madrid also beautiful! Worth to visit the Royal Palace (join a tour no long queue and save time !) and if you have one day off, don't be afraid to join a bus tour and visit Teledo and Segovia from Madrid.

Prado Museum just down the road is excellent, and we were offered senior rate. The adjacent gardens are excellent for a small fee, it even has a vegetable area where vegetables are allowed to grow to full size. Tobacco and cotton grow there,

First time here. Easy to navigate on foot, by cab and Metro (would not recommend self-drive). So many interesting little bars and restaurants - try and get some recommendations from trusted sources if you only have a few days to explore.
