"Room was very dated. Whirlpool bath was too noisy to use. Patio door was very stiff and hard to open and close. View of canal was very poor needed to hang over the balcony to see it. Breakfast was rubbish cold and not very tasteful. Continental breakfast was just a croissant. Would not pay the money again. Thought we were booking a luxury hotel. Will not stay here again."

"Beautiful hotel in areas but if you’re planning to stay here with a baby or you are a wheelchair user I’d maybe think again! This hotel is not accessible at all, it’s quite old so has narrow corridors, lots of heavy doors that are shut between corridors & we were put in a room that had no lift access & was at top of a narrow steep staircase - it was completely impossible to get to with a baby & pram! We had to ask to change rooms and the staff on reception weren’t apologetic or friendly at all!...

"So the hotel doesn’t look much from the outside but inside it’s well furnished, great decor and very clean. The room had a charming aesthetic with beams, the bedding was excellent and very well equipped. The only complaint I had about the room was the nespresso machine was fiddly and the hot water is really hot so be careful! Would recommend especially for couples."

It was not clear about the additional charges for the spa, or the large range of prices offered depending on time of day. Again the staff were helpful but I was surprised at the choice of a male cleaner in the female changing rooms at the start of the session …. Again not a reflection of the staff. "Everything about our stay was perfect. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant was delicious. Clean and comfortable room and bed. Used the pool facilities, great jacuzzi! Overall a great place to stay, would recommend!!"

"I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was a full sized hotel, as opposed to the guesthouse type of accommodations I had last year when I visited Chester. The walk from the train station was fairly short, although if you're carrying a heavy suitcase, you'd probably be better off getting a ride. There is a supermarket next door that had many options for snacks and beverages, but the restaurant situation was a bit challenging, as most of them were about 1km walk west of the hotel. The...

"Perfect stay for my birthday weekend! Literally steps away from everything!! Room was huge & bed was really comfy! Loved the balcony too, only issue was that the Netflix didn’t work on the TV but it didn’t ruin our stay at all. Breakfast in the morning was unreal & would definitely stay again! :)"

"All staff were lovely and helpful nothing was too much trouble for them. Plenty of choice on the breakfast menu. My only criticism if you want to call it that is that the actual bedrooms & bathrooms are all tired looking. Could do with a revamp and a colour injection. Pool area also could do with sprucing up."
