"This hotel is in a great location just on Ocean avenue and near the beach and places to eat. Parking is a challenge as there are limited spots in a cramped parking lot. Breakfast is bare bones. The staff is nice but there are pros and cons with staying here. Walls are thin but the bathrooms are updated. It is well-priced for Carmel."

"Staff Not Trustworthy. My son and I stayed 3 nights. Unfortunately upon checking out I left a duffle bag on floor of the bathroom. When I realized this I immediately called the hotel. The front desk checked with house keeping but said they couldn’t find anything. I called 2 additional times and was met with the same results. Obviously someone is lying and I felt the front desk attendant didn’t want to work very hard to figure out what happened. We will not stay at Deer Haven Inn again. 7/17/2026"

"The service here was abysmal Front desk seems like they hate customers. I’ve never experienced such INhospitality (cold, rude, cruel) in the hospitality industry. The parking lot was seriously a problem. You’ll spend about 20 minutes just trying to get out and in because it’s so dense and packed. I figured out that if I didn’t back into my space during the day, there would be no chance I could get out. My rental car was damaged by another driver because of how small the parking lot was....

"Cool view of ocean from room. Great walking distance. Careful the parking is very tight and they don’t have much of a lobby or front desk. Also be ready for seagulls living on the roof making quite a lot of noise in the early morning."
