"This place is a real gem. The bedrooms are large, quiet, full of all the amenities you need, inc dressing gowns and full of character. I believe that most of the rooms are themed based upon connections with the surrounding area . The evening food in the restaurant downstairs was excellent as well as the service from all the staff. Breakfast options were a small but well stocked buffet along with the choice of cooked options - which again were excellent. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and...

"All clean and ready, but I woke up freezing and had to double up my duvet. The fire light was also very bright and I found it hard to get to sleep and to get to sleep again. "

"We were staying here because our bathroom is being renovated and will definitely stay again. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with a brilliant shower that I did not have to faff around with adjusting, just turned on and it was the perfect temperature. The underfloor heating makes the room very warm although one can open the windows. In kinder weather, there are chairs outside each of the rooms to sit on and enjoy a drink or smoke, and the pub...

"The bedroom was spacious and clean. Everywhere was clean and in good condition - no peeling paint or mustiness you sometimes get with old buildings. The staff could not do enough for you. Everywhere was warm and comfortable. The bars were busy enough to have ambience, but not packed. The pool was brill."

"The bedrooms and halls probably needed to be refurbished 30 years ago. They certainly are long overdue a completely overhaul today. The bathroom was grimy and there was no excuse for not providing a single chair in the room. What was the point in providing even the tired dressing/table desk without one?"

"Room was clean. The room had essentials, like towels, hair dryer, iro, hanger, body soap, tissue, kettles, etc. Bed was comfortable. "
