A marvellous place that could be run better

Excellent location with higher floor rooms being great whilst ground floor room not so (mould & moths). Service is inconsistent & sometimes chaotic. The staff who actually visit are great, but the call centre staff don't seem to be able to do anything without referring to a manager unavailable to customers- even when problems due to breakdown in online booking. Emails sometimes go unanswered too. The website booking system needs work: I was directed to another apartment (same thing happened to another guest) & my request for parking did not register. Parking was a daily issue in the first few days: I got inconsistent instructions re the reservation process (must be specifically with Peymans) & then about where to park. Forget it if your car is big as the spaces are small. Experience could be great with a little attention & coordination. Diren is excellent.

Badly managed apartment

I booked and paid with Hotels.com. Then got first email asking me to upload photo ID and proof of address. Next email was to get deposit of £150. Next email was asking me to advise of arrival time through a portal that offered time slots. I chose 8.15 pm only to be told that arrivals after 8pm had £30 surcharge. I reclicked 7.45 and confirmed this. On day of arrival, I got email saying that nobody would be available and was given a code to open key box at front door. When I arrived, I couldn’t see box and rang the phone number- after many calls an agent directed me to the back- but key box empty. Eventually got in! Keys didn’t engage properly in lock making doors difficult to open/close. Open shower did not drain properly leaving all bathroom floor flooded. Bedroom floor ‘sticky’ in parts. There were no instructions for TV, appliances etc, all of which were quite difficult to use. Overall, initial emails are demanding, reception is non-existant (to the point of being locked out), keys are hard to use, bathroom floods and there is no user information for tricky appliances. I would not be back.

It was central enough and some bits had been done carefully. e.g. organic cotton sheets, some nice fittings. But the bathroom also had mould, it was hard to get enough hot water kitchen surfaces were peeling and the blind in the bedroom was hanging off. Also,there was no one to let us in or explain anything, we just had a text telling us how to get in. The staff I spoke to were pleasant but obviously not enough of them
