"If one is looking for a western-style hotel, this is the wrong place. On the other hand, if one is looking for living (mostly) like a Japanese family would, in a real Japanese neighborhood, then you are looking at the right place. This place is 100% Japanese except that it has 2 full-size western beds, which is not common. And, it has a modern Japanese toilet (heated seat, ETC.) which, I'm guessing, is not too common in 'normal' homes due to their expense. The two 'issues' for us were:...

"Beautiful traditional machiya very close to transit and walkable to many places. Laundry on the corner and grocery around the block. The stairs to the second floor were quite steep and the first floor could have used some more furniture, but really no real complaints "

"This stay was absolutely wonderful, and the host was extremely attentive and understanding. The entire house is very well kept, and everything is in great condition. The bedroom and linens were very comfortable, and the large window in the room let's you wake up to a nice natural light (or block it out entirely if that's your thing). We arrived a bit later than expected, and that wasn't an issue. We were given a full tour of the house and amenities along with instructions on how everything...

"Good experience to stay in traditional Japanese house.clean and kitchen well equipped. Washing machine was convenient. Due to it being an older building, insulation isn’t very good and gets very cold in the winter and need heaters in all rooms. Location is not great as it is walking distance to most places. Bus stop 7 minute walk. Could have provided more furniture such as chairs. Overall nice experience besides being on the cold side."
