"My fiancé and I stayed in this property on our last day in Big Island. Conveniently located 5 min away from the airport, so we had plenty of time to savor up any time we had left over on the island. There are a few local places to eat within walking distance. "A not so hidden gem with a rustic plantation ambiance. Lush surroundings, great parking, friendly staff, convenient to Volcano National Park. The 1/2 mile loop trail behind the property was a fun morning picker-upper to get the day started. It’s a little quirky that the guest check-in is in the gift shop, very laid back but service is wonderful. The restaurant is top notch and the portions are reasonable for the price. "We had a wonderful stay at the Volcano Forest Inn. The large room, access to the full kitchen/common area, the quiet location surrounded by the rainforest, and the private deck allowed us to enjoy a relaxing visit. The inn has a great location just outside the national park. We were able to stop at several places before they became busy. "Comfortable, clean and convenient. It was a nice hilltop location with a great view. The economy room was cute and cozy. The living areas were enjoyable places to spend time. The walls were thin, but guests were respectful of the quiet hours. "

"The accommodations were terrific, a great value in superb location for visiting Volcanoes National Park and Hilo area. Spacious, comfortable beds. Host was very accommodating by offering to deliver to-go breakfasts as we had an early morning flight. I recommend the Lanikai Brewing Co for dinner if you stay here- the best food we ate in Hawaii for adults and kids- also great beer and excellent cocktail lists with low-key come as you are feel (i.e. sweatpants)."

"Pros: This is our first time staying at a lodge like this, so close to nature, just like camping. You will hear coqui frog whole night & seeing them jumping next to your door step. Animals free roaming, peacocks, ducks, chicken. Kids loved it. Cons: There is barely any light at night in the Property…so if you come back late, it’s a bit challenging to find your cabin."
