Top Sunderland Hotel Reviews
Dakota Newcastle
10/10 Excellent
"Clean room nice for a night away"
Grand Hotel Sunderland
8/10 Good
"Hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Small things could improve this hotel like ensuring hair-driers work before arrival. Having 13 amp standard plugs by the bed in all rooms. Regularly changing towels and emptying bins without having to ask. Generally, a clean hotel with vacancies, although prices increase over the weekends. Stayed here several times and would use again in the future. Loyalty discounts would be a benefit."
Maldron Hotel Newcastle
8/10 Good
"Room was generally great, couple of issues- toilet kept running when flushed and the hand towel holder was hanging off the wall by the time we left. Was concerned that there would be noise as looking over Newgate street but not an issue and was perfectly quiet. Very comfortable bed."
Leonardo Hotel Newcastle Quayside
8/10 Good
"All staff very helpful and friendly. Overall clean and tidy. Room spacious but a couple of issues. Only one plug socket next to the bed and only three in total. The other two were not in convenient locations. No shaver socket which was a major surprise! The hotel does have very limited parking which I guess you have to book. The Baltic car park next door is very expensive and by the hour. Gateshead Quays multi-storey (very new and clean) is a minute walk uphill from the hotel."
Village Hotel Newcastle
10/10 Excellent
"Breakfast finished at 9 which was early, facilities were good but get that run down feeling. Only 1 lift. And no water in room"
Copthorne Hotel Newcastle
10/10 Excellent
"This was a fabulous place to stay for Great North Run. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Nothing was too much bother. Staying on the Quayside was great. We will visit again."
Lumley Castle Hotel

"Absolutely amazing place!!!"
The Magnum Hotel, Sunderland City, Sure Collection by Best Western
8/10 Good
"The hotel is not in a great area (on the edge of a retail park/industrial area) which is pretty run down and dirty. The hotel does not look much from the outside, and the lobby feels like it should be a backpacker hostel. HOWEVER, the rooms were nice. Not modern, but they were not small, and were largely well-kept. I slept well and found the hotel quiet despite being totally full. The room was clean and smelled good. Breakfast was not a winner for me - but it was OK. I have had worse, particularly in budget-end US hotels. Initially the food options near-by seemed to be takeaways (MacDonalds, KFC, pizza), but we walked for ~15min and found an _excellent_ sit-down Begali restaurant. The staff were very helpful and kind. My checkin was not great as the battery in the card reader for my door had failed, and it took quite a while before I get in to my room - especially as the receptionist needed to find the right sort of screw-driver (he couldn't, but he managed a work-around). He apologised multiple times though, and ... getting into the room was a nice surprise!"
Holiday Inn Sunderland – City Centre by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"The staff were incredible and service was impeccable. It was nice to see that the front desk agent and service staff was in sync in taking care of the guest. This is now become my go to place on my next visit in January 2027."
