"Ideal location for subway"

"Rooms and bathrooms are very dated and not what we expected for the price. We had originally booked a 3-night stay but decided after the first night that we didn’t want to continue our stay. We contacted Expedia to request a refund for the remaining nights. The hotel initially agreed to refund 80% of the final night. However, when we asked if they would also consider refunding the second night (which we had not yet stayed), they rescinded their original offer entirely and refused any refund. This felt extremely unreasonable and left a bad impression. The customer service experience was disappointing and inflexible. There are plenty of hotels in the area that offer cleaner, more updated rooms at a similar price point. I would strongly recommend considering those instead."

"No good shopping nearby. Towels and toilet were smelly. Staff did not seem happy to help. We thought staying next to Nijo station would be convenient, but this wasn’t worth it considering the nearly 30 noisy ambulances that went by during our two day stay. Breakfast was ok. "

"One of my favorite hotels I stayed in! Hot springs were incredible, room and shared spaces were very clean. It’s a bit away from all the crowds but still close enough to the station and bus stops making it easy for transportation to farther places when you don’t feel like walking or weather isn’t the best. Huge fan of the late night ramen and ice cream available! Would definitely return."

" We stayed with our family in kyoto for almost a week at the ACE. The rooms were big enough and it was a reasonably priced for a good location hotel in Kyoto. But to be honest, that was it. The staff is very very young and perhaps thats the reason that the customer service wasnt very good. When I asked for recommendations for things prior to coming to a foreign country, all I got were website recommendations and not actual specific tours. I asked one of the staff about changing the timing for dinner and the response I got was that maybe I should just keep the dinner reservation without any other rec for a new place. I did appreciate that the staff were very responsive to anything I needed for the room. I just think they need to do a better job of responding to emails and making better recommendations. "
