Sole Suites

First the positives : The 1 bedroom room had plenty of room, a view of the street, a balcony (with no chairs so useless), air-cons worked well, conveniently located near the main "5th" Ave restaurants, shops and bars. Now the negative : the bar half a block away BLASTED MUSIC every night until 3AM so any attempt at sleep was futile. In fairness, at check-in, I was offered either a room towards the back of the place which was smaller with no balcony but a bit quieter OR a larger room with a balcony (no chairs) but noisier. I chose the larger room thinking ear plugs would fix the loud music....NO SO!

Location is convenient. However hotel is close to biggest clubs in Playa del Carmen very loud music playing from 11pm to 4am and currently there is construction right next door. Staff was good. Cleanliness was good.

Location is perfect. Close to all attractions of Playa del Carmen. Nice beach was 10 minutes walk. 5 Av just next Av. For me only bad thing was party from 9PM to 3 AM with tremendously loud music from clubs on 5 AV. I had to use ear plugs to sleep.

Safe to walk around and shop at so many stores ! Dinning fresh fish caught earlier that day or a taco, just steps form Sole Suites! I like to cook my own breakfast so the kitchen was fun to use! With a pharmacy,7/11 and message across from your hotel Nightlife 5 yes five dance clubs with in staggering distance! Couples and singles straits and guy! something for all! Oh fishing, From the front door walk to the left then first turn Right 30 or 40 m to the water take a camera!

Our stay way great. You have to understand, the hotel is located in the busy area, so if you want a quiet place, it is not the case. Although, the music didn’t bother me or my family much. We had a nice sleep. However, you are in the center of everything, tour buses pick up area, beach is 3 min away, lots of restaurants, walmart is 10 min walk and you get two rooms with a kitchen. There was hot water with good pressure all the time and free wifi, but somewhat spotty, The staff was generally ok, but could be more polite and nicer in my opinion. Overall, I think this is a great option for the money and I give it 5 stars despite those minor details.

Great location, close to shops, beach, restaurants. Many taxis available if you want to go out of the city. Loved having Oscar taking care of us at the front desk. Very helpful with recommendations. Only complaint was the beds were too hard.

Loved how close it was to the downtown area. Nice suites with access to patio. Full kitchen and Heat pumps for air conditioning. Beds are quite hard and of course very loud in room every single night til 3am from nearby dance bars.

Very close to Quinta Avenida, quick one short block away. Clubs at night, noise only heard from living room, once you close bedroom door is just fine. No issues sleeping for us. AC was working perfect and very cold, nice when coming back from heat and cooled off fast. Front staff was friendly.

The BEST of this property is the location!! It is in the middle of the besta areas in Playa del Carmen downtown. You can walk a few steps and you will be in the middle of the fun in Playa. The staff is so kind and the installations good and clean. However, you need to be aware about the music and sounds from bars at night

We liked that the black curtain in the bedroom provided excellent coverage, making the room great for sleeping. Unfortunately, due to very loud nightclubs in the area, the rooms on the front sleep are impossible to sleep in. Fortunately the back rooms are very quiet, so a move to one of them solved that problem. But then there was no balcony to sit on. The pool and area was very small but well maintained. Umbrellas would have been a very welcome addition, as it gets very hot on the roof.

Staff was great, very helpful. Stayed in the two room suite which was perfect for our group. Overall facilities need maintenance. Primary complaint is a water pump constantly cycling on and off in the garage directly below our room. Not all the windows closed and there was a door to an access chute that didn’t lock. Didn’t feel unsafe.

The hotel is situated in a convenient location, to the beach, shopping, stores, pharmacy etc. However, the hotel is not exactly family recommends since club music nearby was blasting loud, all the way to 3 or later am. The hotel needs an update badly, rusted bathroom fixtures, peeling wall paint and plaster, beat-up room corners and main hotel gate was a disaster, band-aided countlessly. Never figured it out how it works when no one was at desk. Right outside the hotel curb, the sewage smelled due to broken off lid with very dangerously sticking r-bars. Our room on 2nd floor was cursed by the water pump noise that “ couldn't be adjusted or fixed” the water pump cycled 24/7, every 15-30sec for about 8-10sec. The kick from the pump was very annoying, loud and the pump wasn't even on the 2nd floor but in the cellar. We got woken up many many nights from it.

Mistake

Sole Suites is NOT a hotel. It is a building of condos rented out. Because it’s not a hotel none of the amenities one expects from a hotel are available. There is no common area. There is a desk attendant (who, to be honest tried very hard to help) who has no resources. They are there to open the gate and take your payments. If they’re not at the desk—you can’t get in. If you need handicap access, you hope they spot you on the street waiting for them to open the gate to the garage/basement. We were often left standing in the hot street or climbing the steep-no railing stairs in front to yell through the front gate. There are no menus, brochures, activity literature whatsoever. The rooms are huge and modern, but VERY spare in the furnishings. E.g. there are no table lamps, or decor of any type. There are no outside chairs. One loveseat— some stools at the counter. The only light is glaringly bright and from the ceiling. The full kitchen had pots and pans, dishes and cups, very little silverware and No utensils. The air conditioning works well. You have to pay extra for them to clean up your room. Otherwise it does not get cleaned or tidied up. You have to get your own towels and tp if you don’t pay extra for services. They do not supply washcloths. The rooftop pool is small, but adequate. We couldn’t really use the pool though bc there are only 3 lounge chairs, and no umbrella or protection from the sun. At 112° (real feel) in the sun, no umbrella was a problem.

The installation is really good, however they will charge extra for parking and they will charge an extra cleaning fee; it’s not too expensive just be careful with the towels. Keep that in mind :)
