Overall we had a great experience. Who made it memorable was Yael Coba. She was wonderful and took care of every need we had plus more. We will remember her forever. Even though we are rating it a 5, we did not like the mini bar. I had to call and chat several times just so they would bring us a beer. For an all inclusive, you should stock with beer even after you have requested it. The last two out of three days no beer was stocked in the mini bar

Great food, nice and clean resort. Not alot of activities but great for a relaxing trip. The room service took a very long time to deliver the food. Almost an hour and 30 for room service.

Rooms are nice and food is good. The kids pool area is great. Good place for families. The beach was not good but obviously they can’t control the seaweed and how rough it was. The beach seating was nice but we spent almost all our time at the kids splash pad area. The dinner reservations are a nightmare. This is the one real issue I have. Arrived on a Saturday and couldn’t get a dinner reservation at one of the restaurants until 9:30pm on Thursday on their app. That is ridiculous. I managed to get reservations but only because I booked through Expedia and they have Expedia members onsite working for you. I did have to call twice to get my daughter’s bed made up the first day. The bellhop called when we checked in around 5pm to have the pullout bed made up. We went to dinner enjoyed the shows and at 10pm when we got back to our room it wasn’t done. I would go back especially at the price point I paid.

We had an amazing stay! The hotel itself was great, and the staff truly made the experience even better—everyone was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The entertainment team was fantastic and kept the energy up the entire time. The unlimited towel service was hands down a highlight—absolutely top-notch. The bathrooms throughout the resort were very well maintained and consistently clean, which we really appreciated. The only downside was the limited food options available by the outside pool. Aside from that, everything exceeded our expectations. We would definitely come back

They oversold the hotel they put me in the back of the hotel where I couldn’t see anything but bushes the staff was rude. I could never get a dinner reservation at any of the restaurants. Everything was already reserved the concierge no one could help us. It was not worth my money. Would I advise anyone to stay here. No, I would not.

This was my fifth stay at Royalton Riviera Cancun, and unfortunately my worst experience. Despite having many restaurants, we couldn’t get seating at any of them and ended up eating at the buffet every day. Staff at the front desk were not helpful in resolving this. We were also rushed into booking an excursion poolside without proper explanation of the cancellation policy. When we tried to cancel the next day, we were still charged, which felt very misleading. Very disappointing, especially as a repeat guest. I will not be returning.

The smell of sewage is horrible. The food is not very good. There are constant long lines for buffet, food trucks, coffee shop etc. They need more staff. The staff work so hard and are very friendly.

We returned to the Royalton after 10 years and boy was absolutely everything different. Our experience was the complete opposite of the first time we were there. The food was lacking, the service was terrible and they double charged my sister for spa services that she never used. They were refused to remove the double charges and told us that the spa was independent from the hotel, which makes absolutely no sense. We had to leave as we were catching our flight and they refuse to give us the checkout ticket until we paid even though we didn’t utilize those services. Every time we would ask a question they would send us a guest services who was not helpful at all. Honestly, it was a horrible experience and it was 24 of us celebrating my parents 50th anniversary. We are very disappointed. Never coming back.

We just got back yesterday and spent four nights at the hotel. This was our first time. other reviews that I had read talked about an odor and there was a little bit of that I think because it’s so humid the drawers in the rooms have a musty smell, and I did smell what people have talked about as sewage odor a couple times, mostly when I was walking down the stairwell, but in general, there wasn’t any major issues with that. The staff were wonderful and very attentive and there was no high pressure to get us to do anything we didn’t want to do. We were happy about the buffet. It was very big with a lot of options. We went to two restaurants. The Indian restaurant was excellent. We also went to the steakhouse and my son is the only steak lover, but he enjoyed it a lot. They did a great job with entertainment throughout the day and evening. One benefit of booking through Expedia that I was not expecting was your own Expedia concierge person they took care of our reservations for us which I think would’ve been difficult. I heard people talking about how hard it was for them to make reservations, but we had no problem at all thanks to our Expedia concierge. The other benefit was that the pool chairs were actually marked and reserved for Expedia guests. This is a huge bonus, otherwise you have to get downstairs before 7:30 or all the prime spots are taken already. There were plenty of options to eat by the pools outside as well. Overall, we did have a very nice time.

My wife and I were at this resort March 29 - April 2nd and we will never be back. You’ll be asked to join a meeting for timeshare as soon as you get there; turn it down. It’s a waste of time. The rooms; we had the walk out room into a pool and they are just rooms. You can’t use the beach right now because of the seaweed. The workers there are not friendly they will give you a fake smile and unless you have a 10 or 20 in front of you, good luck getting served. I’ve never seen anything like it. Food is not good at all other than the outside pizza making restaurant which is delicious. Casino is rigged. I know people will laugh and go try it themselves. I promise you will lose every time. Drinks are so watered down. I could have 50 chocolate monkeys and it not affect me at all. I watched how much alcohol was put into a drink and it was not even a shot worth. They do try to get your money in any way possible I went to the little store in the resort and I wanted licorice and a Milky Way just two simple things and they wanted $21 for that insane. They do have a nightclub, but other than that, there’s nothing to do at night. The shows they put on they OK but if you’ve seen one at another resort, you’ve seen them all. We’ve stayed at many resorts and I could promise you you can find much nicer and more affordable than this place.

Property grounds were well maintained. Room had to be changed due to the first room swim out pool was not clean. Room had a lot of mosquitoes every night which was a problem. I think this is due to cleaning staff leaving doors and outdoor sliders open while they cleaned. Staff - Andy at Expedia Conceirge was great in helping us navigate that and any questions we had. Jorge and Leydi at the pool area for drinks were amazing their service was great. Food was ok - best restaurants was Italian and Japanese.

Lots of options for break/lunch/dinner. Restaurants were fantastic! Italian/TexMex/Agavei my favs. That is the only highlight, to be honest. Beach is not swimable. Didn't get to visit the breakfast buffets as I prefer my room in the AM, but room service was absolutely horrible.The personal (the one the speaks good english) very impatient, to the point of rude and dismissive. I upgraded to Diamond, and wasn't worth it at all. No additional benefit desipite what i paid for. $$$ Didnt get the "butler service", or any benefits aside from pool access. Room smelled of mold. I really wanted to love this resort, but just was NOT worth the money. Rm 9223 03/31-04/03.

Overall we felt like our stay was very medium. Upon arrival, someone who introduced himself as from Expedia came to tell us he would help us with anything we needed during our stay, took our phone number, and then never contacted us until the day before we left. We did have someone from Royalton immediately come up to help us, too, but they were trying to sell us a club membership and to join them for a breakfast where we’d learn more about joining the club. Once we said no to the breakfast, the staff member stopped responding to any messages. We booked an ocean view family suite, and upon getting checked in, the staff was quietly back and forth between the check in desks, and told us they were “doing something special” for us. They moved us to the diamond area, which we thought was very kind to do without request, but when we got there, we had a view looking at the back of a building and in order to see the ocean, we had to go out on the balcony and stand in one of the ends and look over. When we told the front desk we had paid for an ocean view, they told us we can technically see the ocean so it is an ocean view. They also said they were overbooked so they couldn’t accommodate what we originally booked. The pools were great. Our kids enjoyed the obstacle course in the water and the slides. The food was pretty good. We especially enjoyed Zen, our server was great with food allergies!

Almost impossible to get reservations if not a prime or diamond member. The wait staff for the most part were extremely slow and rude. Beach was loaded with piles of seaweed . Annoying how many people kept trying to get you to book for the spa or take a membership tour. Even when in full conversation having fun they would walk right up and interrupt. Although I did break and booked with one and very happy I did. Beautiful spa, great massage and hydrotherapy . Went twice! Then thankfully an Expedia member checked in on my trip and got us dinner reservations finally and met with us and turned our trip around!!!! Thank you Victor!!!! Coco bongo was amazing! Such a great time. And booked through the Royalton and personally escorted to the door . Literally walked us in. Felt very safe.
