The hotel staff there were very warm and welcoming. We like the heritage style hotel a lot. Amenities and facilities were limited but enough for us. We had a pleasant stay during our 2 nights in Ipoh. Highly recommend this hotel to all visitors.

We enjoyed our stay in the loft apartment, only one chair upstairs and down was a problem with two people if you wanted to watch tv. A small fridge would have been appreciated.

Probably the best and nicest place to stay in the heart of historic Ipoh. Very clean, convenient (an easy walk from the train station) and quirky - lots of character - each room different configuration and decor in this converted historic building. Enjoyed our stay. Staff very friendly too. We (as a couple) stayed in the smallest loft room which was small but perfect for us for a few nights. We left our reservation until late and it was the only room available over a weekend. The aircon was very effective (thankfully) as it was high temperatures and humidity during our stay even by local standards. Very clean and shower pressure great. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Ipoh (based upon other options we looked into) from both a location and amenity perspectives.

Sarong Paloh Hotel Review
Will only accept cash for payment. Would be nice if notified in advance. Air con dripped water onto bed in the middle of night, so have to turn it off and room became very hot. Too many stairs, not suitable for elderly. Steps are painted black, too hazardous if need to go to restroom at night as bathroom is downstairs. Want to charge additional $30 for a quieter room.

Pleasant place to stay in Ipoh.
Sarang Paloh is a lovely and very convenient place to stay. The room was comfortable, spacious, and surprisingly quiet for being located on a major city street. The location in Ipoh old town, right next to Lim Coffee, was outstanding.

True to its name, it has a rustic feel since it’s known as a heritage stay. It’s got furniture and decor of the 1970s and has a laid back and relaxed feel. The hotel has a bird theme as its rooms are named after bird names - Swiflet Platinum, Blue Rumped Parrot etc. However, due to the road right in front of the hotel, the noise of the traffic can be quite loud, even in the middle of the night. But the hotel staff is nice enough to offer ear-plugs.

Great location, good room and cool building but air-conditioning was a heat pump that blew cold air over the bed and overall it's quite expensive for what it is. Fact they don't include breakfast for the price is below par for Malaysia.

Quaint hotel in the heart of Ipoh old town
Although we stayed here for only one night, it was certainly a memorable one. The staff were polite and friendly, the room was in wonderful condition and the location was excellent. A few plus points that stood out: 1. Nicely-decorated common areas and room. 2. Powerful aircon unit that cooled our high-ceiling loft nicely. 3. Very clean toilet with strong water flow (rain shower was splendid). Our stay here definitely exceeded all expectations and we look forward to coming back the next time to try out the other unique rooms.

Wifi signal wasn't great in our room and lightswitches could be in some odd places, but that is proce you pay for converting an unusual building. Really nice staff and parking in garage just across the road. Really nicley done hotel.

A Quiet Comfortable Stay
A nice place which we were told to treat like home. Indeed with minimal staff and good explanation, we did and found nice privacy. It helped that the hotel had low occupancy then. Hotel is a group of very nicely renovated old houses or shophouses. The rooms have very high ceiling. The hotel was quiet, clean and comfortable. You could walk to very nice food around.

Too noisy!
This is a shophouse boutique hotel that is located directly along a busy road. It is so noisy throughout the night with all the cars zooming pass. At some point, the noise of vehicles actually triggered the alarm of a car parked along the road in the middle of the night!
We apologise for the noise that comes in from the main road, however, the room you had booked is facing the front however, we do have rooms facing garden view, which is "Blue Rumped Parrot" Once again, we would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused during your stay. Wonderful boutique hotel
Wow, what a little gem, so quirkyclean and interesting, my room was one of the most interesting I have ever stayed in. I loved it. Nearby was a great Indian restaurant, one the best I have been to, the cost, 4 dollars!

Stylish hotel.
This hotel is a wonderful conversion of three old shophouses, and all of the rooms have lots of style. We were in a room with a really high ceiling, so our bed was on a mezzanine storey above the rest of the room. This was quite fun! The bed was really comfy, and the bathroom had a good shower and excellent toiletries. The only real downside to our stay was that the hotel doesn't provide a lot of services. There's no breakfast or food and drink on-site (although you can get a 20% discount at a restaurant down the street), and the staff are not as welcoming as they could be. So we felt less 'at home' in this hotel than we have at other hotels in Malaysia, and mainly used the hotel just for sleeping. All-in-all, though, we liked our room, and enjoyed our visit to Ipoh.

Most of the people would not be able to sleep well. Everytime big car passes by, the whole room shakes. If you prefer room away from elevators, this room will drive you crazy all night long. Also there is almost no sound proof, so you will hear all the car and motorcycle noise from outside. Also parking space is such a bad design that you will be stuck behind other car, and not able to go out.

Located right in old town ipoh.
Rustic charming hotel right where the attractions are. Rooms are nice and clean. Much effort has been put into making the decor fit in place. Little details that make the difference. Friendly staff which will explain about the hotel and location upon your arrival. They will also help you with crossing the busy main street. Was a total enjoyable and pleasent experience.

Nostalgic hotel at the heart of town
Our room (swiflet) was spacious,comfy n clean but can be noisy because of the vehicles on the road.the ceiling fans was not working but yet the room is well-conditioned and airy.Walking distance to famous streets and eateries.overall,we enjoyed our trip and the accommodation we chose.will definitely stay there again.

Charming boutique hotel, in historic Ipoh city
It was a pleasant stay in a charming loft room, in the centre of historic Ipoh. The hotel has a nice courtyard style garden in the middle - not big, but beautiful. Little antique pieces around the hotel adds to the charm.

Charming Classic Hotel in Old Town.
Two old commercial buildings (bank and pawn shop) wonderfully converted into a hotel with an event space. Each room is unique and named for a bird. Lots of great antiques and nice design features all around, very well done. The loft room was quite comfortable, although a light sleeper should request a room away from the main street. The staff are great, really great people. Well above expectations for what is good service. While they don't offer food at the property, the restaurant 2 doors down is theirs and they give a 20% discount off already reasonable prices. Very good Cantonese food and great coffee. I'd certainly stay here again if I make it back to Ipoh.

Perfect Location
Sympathetically restored from 100 year old shophouse and the old OCBC bank, located next to all the wonderful Ipoh food eateries. Modern amenities in the rooms, but common areas have old antiques and paintings evoking nostalgic feelings for a bygone era.
