"The front desk was great. When I arrived to check in I was immediately welcomed and taken care of as soon as I walked thru the doors. I even came thru the front desk office after a late tour and the person that checked me in greeted me - I felt like I was at home. Every person that was working in the property was so friendly and acknowledged you throughout the day. I don’t think I would stay anywhere else in Maui. I felt so safe here."

"I property could use some upgrades. The pool was old and slimey. The room was supposed to be a partial ocean view but it was literally a view of the side of a building. The staff was no help, only offered to move me for an additional 90$ a night. It was an average place but definitely not worth what I paid. The location was nice."

"This is the perfect place/location for those seeking a nice condo in Kaanapali. The complex is right next to the Whaler’s village and has good beach front with cabana, lounge and umbrella rentals available. The units are spacious with good kitchens. We’ve been to Maui many times and feel that this is the best option."

"Went for our honeymoon and the Whaler didn’t disappoint. The room was clean and set up pretty well. The communication and follow up was the best I’ve experienced, we wanted to experience a bunch of local spots and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. The location is perfect. Very centralized to snorkeling, pool, or the ocean. A bunch of good food in walking distance and even some others for a short drive. Was able to whale watch from the room and a short walk to black rock we seen dolphins....

"Great location with beautiful pools and views. However, for the price, I would have expected maid service and more amenities. There is only one sit-down restaurant with exceedingly slow service. The resort is undergoing a major renovation, so the main inner area is essentially closed."

"Best kept secret for Kaanapali beach resorts! Everything accessible with no elevators, crowds, or chaos. Free wi-fi, parking and best stretch of beach ever. Pool never crowded, plenty of chairs and unlimited towels at front desk. Free coffee 7am-11am. Stayed in Coconut Building and room had double queen beds and full stainless kitchen. Cons: Undisclosed fees I was asked to pay upon checkin even when I messaged hotel/mgmt/owner? on Expedia platform weeks before to doublecheck and was told no additional $! It should clearly state "pay at property $xx amount" like my other expedia bookings. Expedia resolved it after escalation."

"Wow! I cannot wait to come back to this hotel. It really is a gem! Great staff, great amenities, great location! The only thing I was not a fan of was the birds all over. I wish they would put up signs to not feed the birds (similar to what we saw at Costco when we were there). The guests definitely make this problem worst, as the guests are the ones we saw consistently feeding them."

"Our room was great! beauriful view if the ocean! We sat on the balcony everyday. The pools were great, beach was beautiful. You can snorkel right in front of the property. Be sure to bring water shoes because the beach it is very rocky in front of Honua Kai Resort. If you walk to the south it is less rocky. There is a nice path that we took our morning walks. "Not a great check-in experience, room had pulled up carpet and broken lamp (upgraded bungalow room) and was not worth the price we paid. Restaurants and Luau on-site were overpriced and underwhelming. The only upside was the manager Gretchen that helped us to move to a different room (lower priced), but better view. We didn't get any money back, but Gretchen was very nice and helped us out."
