"We stayed here for the third time in a few years and on the whole we were happy with it. The receptionist wasn't very friendly on our arrival and we felt unwelcome which isn't usual for here. "This is a difficult review. The hotel tries hard, I presume it's been recently refurbished in the Carlton annex. However,you need to keep on top of it and do the little bits like carpet fraying who decided on the edges? "The staff were just so lovely here. Really really friendly, helpful, bubbly and after a 7 hr drive from Brighton to Newcastle it was nice to be greeted with such friendliness. I can’t remember the ladies name who checked us in but she was super nice (I hope she got Sam fender ;) in the end) and the night guy who was there when we returned from St James’s was also such a nice guy, he was still there in the morning so he saw us off.
