"Great property overall. The main reason I did not give it a higher rating is because the walls are thin and for 3 nights we could hear the people next door to us yelling and talking very loud till 3am. You could hear the entire conversation for 3-4 hours. The other thing that I did not like was that the bar at the pool closed early. We got to the pool at 6pm and the food and drink area was closed. It was a great place as far as location. We were close to a lot of attractions and stores."

"We had a wonderful stay at Portola Hotel & Spa Monterey! The location is perfect—right in the heart of downtown Monterey, within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf, the marina, great restaurants, and the beautiful waterfront. "Overall the facility was going through renovations but they said they gave us the “renovated side” that was completed. Walking in the room everything looked good. Inspecting not so much. No towels, no tissues or toilet paper. Hair balls on the carpet near the edge of beds. When time to sleep pulling back the sheets 2 stains on 1 bed and no pillow cases on the other.
