Congress Plaza Hotel
5/5 Excellent
"So convenient to everything we wanted to do in Chicago!
The lobby is gorgeous but the rest of the hotel pretty run down, some areas with vintage charm and other areas bordering on dilapidated. The vending machine room on 1st floor is ugly and frightening. And every machine was out of water bottles. The display cases are outdated and sad. The carpet in upper hallways worn out and faded. The Lounge was ok, but overall the on-site restaurants not appealing.
The room was nice with a very lovely view of the lake. Appreciated the high ceilings, large closet and little desk alcove. Loved the laminate flooring instead of carpet. Overall clean and comfy but SO hot! No thermostat and AC barely keeping up. Was able to get a fan from housekeeping so that helped. Generally a good stay but definitely not the luxurious experience we were hoping for. "
