"A MUST STAY! As soon as you arrive, you are treated like royalty. The staff are truly incredible, and speak good English. The rooms are spacious and quiet. The private outdoor onsen was very relaxing ($35ish for 45 mins), the bed was comfy and the breakfast nice and fresh. I opted for the Kaiseki dinner and although very fresh and overall nice, it was quite pricey and I’m actually not a huge seafood lover so if you aren’t, I wouldn’t recommend. I loved my one night stay - I wish I had stayed...

"Our stay at the GrandWest Arashiyama was exceptional. The room was spacious and clean, reception was incredibly helpful, and the location was quiet and idyllic. During our stay we made the most of the amenities including free refreshments, a washing/drying machine, and a cute cafe situated just downstairs from the hotel entrance. Our stay here was easily one of the best parts of our trip to Japan and I highly encourage those visiting Arashiyama to consider this hotel!"

It is a perfect location if you are looking to wake up early and walk to the bamboo forest, you can be one of the first people there. Kenji also gave us recommendations of places to visit in the area that you otherwise may not have known about. "
