"Kenji, the host for the guesthouse was a pleasure to communicate with. Friendly, helpful and responsive, you couldn’t have asked for a better host. The lodging is a traditional Japanese home set up that helps you immerse into history and how families still live in Japan (and East Asia). The location is walking distance to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, temples and tourist zone without being in the thick of it. It’s simple, no frills and comfortable enough accommodation at a convenient location. You have access to fridge and simple kitchen with shared bathroom. I never ran into the other occupants during my stay."

"Of the nine different hotels and ryokans we stayed at, this was our favorite place to stay. The location was gorgeous and the staff was the friendliest and most helpful we encountered. This location is up in the mountains so it doesn't have many tourists. We were able to to walk to three different nearby shrines/temples in about 2-3 hours and saw only 4 other people. This was the most relaxing part of our 2 week trip. The dinner and breakfast was exceptional but the staff and location is why we picked this hotel as our favorite place of our trip. I would absolutely stay here again. If you are looking for a place to relax in a mountain setting this is the place to stay!"

"Muni Kyoto is a small boutique hotel with friendly staff and is conveniently located. Our second floor room has beautiful views of Arashiyama with large floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony. The hotel and rooms have a modern and minimalist design so that the focus is on the natural scenery outside. Breakfast has multiple courses and is delicious, especially their freshly baked croissants. The dining experience is generally calm and relaxing with the views of Arashiyama."

"First and foremost, the entire staff was absolutely fantastic and made our stay wonderful. They were so helpful and kind from the very beginning. The hotel is in a great location, very clean, cold water bottles always available, very spacious rooms and comfortable beds. There's a small mart down the street and you can walk/e-bike within minutes to major attractions, beautiful temples and Edo period streets. 10/10"
