It is not a material luxury experience (there are many others who fit this expectation), so much as an unintentional unmannicured view into the past of old Kyoto. Very dreamy for me at least!. It felt like returning to my granny's house in post war Setayaga. Special. There are exceptional people among the staff whose heart beats echo mine and that era."

"Air conditioning was great the staff efficient but there was a language issue since I do not speak much Japanese. Hotel is close to market great shopping also close to gf restaurants. Near a bus stop. Also Short walking distance to larger shoppers stores. The only drawback is the for two people the room was crowded and it took a while to charge electronics."

"We loved our stay at Saju Kyoto. We arrived early and they looked after our bags until it was time to check in. When we checked in we were served matcha tea and Japanese cakes in our room. The room was very tiny but so comfortable, cosy and traditional. The futons were the most comfortable beds we had during all our time in Japan! The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. "We had an amazing 3 day stay at Art Mon Zen. From the moment we arrived to leaving, the staff were exceptional and extremely attentive. Probably the best hotel stay in Japan. Overall, the room was very comfortable and relaxing after a long day visiting all the sensational sights in Kyoto. Outside of the room the hotel is very minimal so don’t expect someone to be downstairs when you arrive or leave. This isn’t a negative, just more like your own apartment than a traditional hotel.
