"The gardens and grounds were immaculately kept, the staff were friendly and service was prompt. The rooms are some of the nicest we’ve stayed in. Balcony view of sunsets was spectacular. Plenty of dining options and the cappuccino cafe was a great on-site perk. The larger quiet pool was peaceful and pristine. Always free loungers at the beach and pools in July. Beach had brown sugar sand, nice water and waves. Some vendors will approach but leave you alone if you say no thanks. Fabulous massages available on the beach (not connected with Riu). I can’t comment on the Riu spa or gym as I didn't use them. Live music in the lobby was nice. Sports bar was good with excellent entrees. A la carte dining varied from excellent to very good. Buffet had theme nights and many times we found their meat and fish options to be some of the best we’ve had on a buffet ever. For those with gluten restrictions the buffet had a gluten free station and most of their items in the other stations had the allergy symbols posted for wheat, fish, peanut, egg, dairy etc The Riu app shows the a la carte restaurants and menu items can be filtered by allergy. I had zero issues with cross contamination during my stay. "

" cannot say enough wonderful things about the hotel and staff! This was a medical trip with my son who has special needs. Not only did they plan accordingly as we had previously discussed, they all went above and beyond to accommodate anything we needed throughout the trip!! Every single employee exceeded my expectations in every possible way! And Guest Services—-WOW!——if only every hotel had such an amazing team! Just to name a few that really stood out with their attentiveness, timeliness to needs, compassion, and kindness—Hector, Alberto, Javier, Silvia—I was beyond impressed with the way they managed every aspect of our needs! To be honest, I’ve never seen such professionalism combined with such big hearts! They became like family and we will miss them dearly! Karen was one of the servers that really stood out to give us such a kind, attentive, wonderful service at every meal, remembering every detail including making sure nothing had gluten in it or cross contaminated as I have celiac disease. She also remembered my son’s exact order every single time! Miss Elena in housekeeping went above and beyond to make sure everything was cleaned to perfection! In fact she really went above and beyond making it squeaky clean even after Gibson was very sick from his medical treatments! We will continue to stay at Meliá anytime we visit Puerto Vallarta from here on out! I cannot recommend it enough!! "

"Iberostar Selection Hotel-Playa Mita is such a beautiful place. The staff is super friendly and courteous — it even made me want to speak a bit of Spanish! The beach is nice and warm, and the pool is amazing too. There are lots of fun activities! The vibe is so good and everything is really clean. I didn’t have any problems at all. The room was clean and super comfy. We’ll definitely be back soon!"
