We’ve stayed at the Chauncey multiple times. The hotel is unique, overall clean, has good amenities, in a great location, convenient and walkable to downtown and the university. The front desk is friendly. There is a movie theater, bowling alley, game room/ bar and coffee shop but it is still quiet.
The rooms themselves are clean with great views (choose balcony). On the downside, there is usually something “off” with the room, nothing major, but is a minor annoyance easily avoided. Some examples over 10 visits- coffee machine broken, walk into room- air off and 83 degrees, 1 bath towel in a 2 bed suite, empty hand soap/body wash/conditioner, only a small amount of toilet paper left on the roll when you check in and no spare.
This was our first stay here booking through Expedia and not directly on Hilton app- highly disappointed.
Upon arrival, we were told they didn’t have the large 2 bed room with balcony I booked (and needed as I had 2 guests and a dog) but only had a king bed. They said that the “third party I used overbooked” and there were no other rooms available that evening. I questioned this as I was a Hilton diamond member and could see another room on the app. They said I could move the next day but they had no rooms. Minutes later, a manager called and said someone else was willing to move rooms and now they suddenly had one, which we checked into. I’m guessing that room was available the entire time. The rest of the stay was great.
