"Lovely stay, the room was great and the location is beautiful. The only qualm we had was that we were in a room at the top of the house and so the ceiling dipped, which meant it was difficult to shower as the shower head was really low (I just fit underneath at 5”7). My partner also noticed it hadn’t been cleaned on top. May be noting on the booking that those rooms are not tall people friendly."

"The stay was wonderful and we were treated with personal care. The only negative was that our room needed a little bit of repairs, given that the building is several hundred years old. Everything worked fine, but there were a few creaks in the floor that were in need of attention. The issue was limited to our room. The rest of the building appeared to be in great shape. By the time a reader sees this comment, the issue may have already been taken care of."

"This was a great place to stay! The king-sized bed was a bonus, very comfortable. The location of the inn, just outside of the north gate made it a quiet place to sleep for those looking for a solid rest, while still being walking distance of the attractions and train station. The breakfast was a little “greasy spoon” style, but that’s likely pretty common for this type of place. Awesome location and quiet!"

"The property was very central. The room was a reasonable size for one night with everything you needed. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good with large towels. We were disappointed to be in an accessible room which meant the shower was a wet room and the whole area ended up quite wet once the shower was used."

"Lovely home-y hotel in York. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Room is clean, only deducted a star because there is some up- keeping that can be done (a bit of peeling wallpaper, etc). Very well located, about a 6 minute walk from the train station and right in the centre of the old town. Breakfast included in the room rate was great."
