We had a great stay here and we loved the theme of the inn! The room was clean and well decorated and the staff are great also the food served here is delicious. The one sore spot is the shower temperature control doesn’t work so couldn’t have a warm shower all weekend.
The room was imaculate. Vibes were incredible. Food was good. Staff were SO LOVELY. Absolutly adorded our stay here. 10/10

Perfect location opposite York Minster but unfortunately we had scaffolding outside our window totally obscuring the view, we were not made aware of this and having a view of the Minster was why we booked, very disappointed.
Excellent location very close to York Minster and convenient for the city centre attractions and shops. Hotel has an amazing historical connection to the gun powder plot.
Brilliant location from the train station and into the town centre. Food was delicious. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend.
Great hotel, historically and culturally. Love the restaurant and bar and the food is excellent.

Fantastic quirky room the bed had quite a slope to it but loved the room slight grumble the shower was not over hot but perfectly acceptable. The breakfast was really good both mornings, the pub itself was very popular so not a place for a quiet drink but we will definitely go back
Overall we enjoyed our stay. Not the quietest hotel but shortly after 11 pm, it became quiet enough to sleep. One very old piece of furniture (armoire) in our room had its door fall off after it was opened, hanging on by a very thin nail.
I know its a very old building but I don’t think it could be more non disabled friendly if it tried. Steps in, no disabled toilets, double flights of stairs to bedroom. Big step into shower. Lots of noise from other residents and york Minster bells in the morning. Staff were great though. Food exquisite. Room very hot and no way to open windows up fully.
Really well situated and the rooms are well decorated

Very historical and quaint with central access to tourist areas.
Wi-fi signal was very poor and intermittent in the room which was also tired and poorly maintained. Great staff, location, historical quirkiness, but property undergoing scaffolded exterior maintenance as was nearby buildings allowed for early morning workman wake up calls! Good food, drinks, outdoor indoor ambience however, residence? Not so much.
