Xplor Theme Park

This is a good budget all inclusive resort at the older North part of the hotels zone of Cancun with some quirks to solve. First, the location is great on Google Maps. The wave breaker a little north of the hotel helps tame the waves. However, it also causes some sea weed buildup on the ocean floor and cause the sea look a little darker compared to the places like 300-400m south, just south of Coco Bongo. So, we walked a little to where the water was truely caribbean blue. Hotel building shows its age and needs another round of renovation. During our 5 nights stay, one of the 2 elevators serving roughly 200 rooms was non-operational. We and many others used the stairs instead. AC in the room runs non-stop and you can only adjust the fan speed. It gets really cold inside about 4-5 AM in the morning. We opened the window to warm up a little and it caused condensation at the AC and leakage above the bathroom sink. Food at the buffet was OK. The restaurants Fisheria and Las Velas serves lunch. Las Velas is open buffet and kids liked it better. You can also make reservation (before breakfast) for dinner at Mediterrano and Hacienda Mortuares for the next day if they are open. Mediterranean restaurant if often closed. Food at the Mediterranean rasturant was great but the AC seemed to be broken and it felt really hot. The Hacienda is great and the atmosphere is uniquely Mexcan. Liked it a lot. Rooms were clean, everyone of the staff was helpful. Liked it.
