University of Wales-Newport

In 2013, the University of Wales Newport merged with the University of Glamorgan to form the University of South Wales. The university as a whole has campuses across South Wales, with Newport being the newest, opened in 2011.

Newport is between the cities of Bristol and Cardiff and close to some beautiful Welsh countryside, too, so the university could not be better placed for a fulfilling and varied educational experience.

The University of South Wales Newport is housed in a magnificent state-of-the-art glass and steel-pillared building on the banks of the river Usk. It is home to the Faculty of Arts and Business, which offers a whole range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

In particular, the prestigious Newport Film School forms part of the faculty, with a worldwide reputation for excellence in film education. The fashion department is said to have one of the best studio spaces in a British university.

It is within walking distance of all the amenities to be found in the busy town of Newport. Close by is the Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre — and no Welsh town would be complete without a rugby club, which, in this case, is the Newport Gwent Dragons.

Cardiff is less than half an hour away by road or rail and the spectacular scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park is about the same distance due north.

The University of South Wales Newport could be a wonderful place to spend your student years.
